Quick rant...then done

Ok quick rant and then quiet forever (maybe).
First let me say I am used to driving a Shelby GT, the car was MADE for racing. The car feels like a muscle car through and though. The sound, the feel, the way it distributes power, everything… just a fine car.
With the SS, I have had it 3 days and have found myself annoyed as hell a ton of times already. Just to name a few things… the handles to close the doors were made for a child’s fingers , the seat belt strap that keeps the belt off your neck comes unsnapped at the slightest pull, all the controls for the radio and air are attention consuming, the dual action buttons for the radio are dumb as hell, the shifter feels sloppy as all get out, the stock exhaust is too quiet for a car like this, the word I have used to describe this car over and over is “fluffy” everything about it (besides outside styling) is soft. If I would liken it to something outside the car world I would say it’s like the experience you get camping with a bag on the ground in the mountains under the stars (Mustang) versus taking a travel trailer out to a camp ground, with satellite TV, and a bathroom (Camaro), it is all about what you prefer and I am a full experience kind of guy.
With all that said it is a good car with decent power, with a few mods it will be the fire breathing monster I expected it to be. I will start with catbacks, springs, shifter, and then next spring (when the sun comes back to WA) I will go for some of the bigger stuff like S/C. I love the tire/brake package, this morning in the rain the SS did FAR better than the Shelby does in the rain.
I don’t mean to offend anyone out there, I just wanted to get that off my chest, and see if any of you had the same experience.

See, but the SS is still a mass produced car, not strictly built for racing. I'm sure once the Z28 comes it would be more of what you were expecting.

So your rant is that the $38,000 dollar 2SS Camaro isn't quite as good as the Shelby GT which MSRP starts at 46K. Ok....

i didnt know that GT500s were 'made for racing'.... its a mustang with a blower, fancy brakes and an ok suspension. dont get me wrong, im not a poor sport/chevy or nothing person (or whatever)- by no means is the camaro any closer to being a 'race car', frankly it handles pretty awful stock, especially when something with a live rear axle can embarass it through some cones. they both need lots of improvement.... but put a roots blower on your camaro, you will forget all of what you said lol

Seatbelt strap works fine for me 5k+ miles and no problems, exhaust gets much louder at around 2k miles. And when I hear Shelby GT, I'm pretty sure thats the tarted up standard Mustang GT with a few boltons hes talking about, not a GT500.

Not a 500 it's a Shelby GT. It is not super charged, and I paid less for it than I did the Camaro. I agree a little S/C will go a long way

Also consider, tis the first year of production for this model. It will only get better and more refined from here

Right it is an SGT not a 500. It may sound like "a few bolt ons" but don't be fooled, the SGT is a sick car, that is just a little under powered (a lot underpowered for my taste). The ford racing suspension package IMO is worth it's weight in gold. I have been a car guy my whole life, and I have not driven a car I felt more comfortable cornering in.
I have heard that the exhaust gets louder with time I will just help it along with some catbacks.

All legit complaints. You will get used to the buttons and the controls and that won't be a factor. I initially had issues with the seatbelt holder as well, but it doesn't happen as much as it used to and is a non issue for me. Exhaust .. agreed ... can be fixed pretty quick though with an aftermarket unit. The shifter isn't too bad, but I just went to an MGW shifter, so that can be fixed as well.

Just stick with it and mold the car to what you want it to be.

You are very right. The mustang never went out of production, therefore you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a mod mustang part for cheap. Undoubtedly, as time passes the market will be flooded with goodies for the SS.
