Alright folks, just need a little info please, I changes my spark plugs in my 2011 SS after 70k miles on them, I drive the car hard. I went with the NGK TR6IX because I thought I had the NGK TR6's in there to begin with after the car was tuned 5 years ago, my tuner couldn't remember what he installed. I have a CAI, ported TB. longtubes and an off road mid and xpipe. The plugs that were in there when we took them out were NGK TR55's. What is the difference in the numbers on these and what difference would I be seeing, or experiencing. I went with the TR6IX's because several of you modded and tuned folks are running them. Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is the info from NGK's website on the two plugs you listed.

Car seems to run really good though..I'm wondering if the heat range change from a 5 to a 6 is what is causing it and the tune on my car doesn't like it. Just a thought..Might have to go back down to a 5.

I would find out what the CEL code is first, see if it is related to your ignition system. As far as running a colder plug, that's what the NOS guys do all the time without any issues. If you're concerned with your MPG, then you might want to put up another set of the TR-55s. Should be about 2.50 for the NGK coppers.

That AFR is rich of course compared to Stoich and that should be even considered sort of rich for WOT pulls...the gap is right with the tr6ix and BTW you don't gap Iridium plugs you can hurt them they are brittle, the 55s would have had too much gap compared to the stock plugs..... sure they work the 55s just with headers and such you want a 6 heat range and a 7 for FI..... and you have most likely a need to check the connections of the plugs wires and condition of the plugs as far as the CEL goes... Good Luck

Well here is the news guys, went to the dealership and spoke with my mech that works on my Camaro when I need things done I'm uncomfortable with doing or just don't have the tools to do it, had him pull the code and it was a P0174,,lean condition bank 2. He then cleared the code and put the car on his diagnostic computer to check the fuel trims and they were right where they should be according to him and the data for my engine, so he didn't have to reset them.
Got home and called my tuner and talked to him about it and he was surprised that it even posted a code for a plug change, let alone the 1 I did get, he said that 1 should have never came up. He also said that when he tuned my car that he installed the TR55's and that changing to the TR6IX's would be fine, but if he had put the TR6's in there and I went to a TR55 he would have had to retune the car. But anyway so far all is good and she runs great, I am not at all concerned about the MPG change, just thought it was weird that it would have changed any at all..Thanks for all the posts guys.

I took my AC Delco plugs in with the rest of my cam gear to be installed and the shop I took it to said they would be installing the NGK's instead
not sure why. Or why they wouldn't use the part I provided.

I guess you'll need to ask them the reason, not saying they are wrong, just that most people find the AC Delco are a better plug.
Thats whats great about these threads, lots of input from a wide variety of experiences for us to consider. Good luck with the install !
