Service vehicle soon code

I have a 2012 LS3 I`ve noticed that when I`m driving I can feel a slight drag as if the clutch or brake is being slightly pressed. And if I try to accelerate abruptly there is popping sound just like a decel pop.The car still makes good power. I got a service vehicle soon code today which is the crankshaft position sensor. Could this be causing the issue? The car is currently being tuned by dynosteve, the problem started before the tuning.

If you have code that tells you the problem...then I would fix that first. A crankshaft positioning sensor is part of the timing. Timing can cause multiple problems, such as lag, surge, backfires,no start, and other problems.

Thanks I`m about to order one right now. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

I would not recommend just throwing parts at it.

Follow the diagnostic trouble tree to find the real cause, could be as simple as a lose connection and as difficult to find as a bad ground, chewed wires from Mice etc.

Ted.
