GM Performance Exhaust

Hi,

I was wondering what everyone's opinion was on GM's Performance Exhaust for the Camaro.

Are there any videos or sound clips showing the difference from Stock?

Thanks

As far as I know the only exhausts GM has right now for the Camaro are the
GMPP axle backs.
It comes with either regular or off road mufflers. The "off road" axle back is more aggressive.

Do a search of GMPP "off road" axle back OR GMPP axle back exhaust for pics and some sound clips.

I have the GMPP "regular" axle back on my otherwise stock LS3 M6. At the MTI meet in Alabama a few weeks ago many, many folks said that it was the best sounding exhaust they heard so far. It is not loud, only slightly louder than stock but a much deeper and a better tone. I haven't noticed any drone around town or at highway speeds up to 100mph. I have approximately 1K miles on the GMPP axle back system so far and I'm glad I made this choice. Even my wife and teenage son's are pleased with the change. Did I feel an increase in power ?? I honestly don't know, car runs to my expectations before and after the change. Removing the stock "pillows" really cleans up the back of the car. If GMPP ever offers the shorty headers I'm confident I can install them and still have a good sounding, not too loud exhaust. Ed M.

I have the GMPP off road axle back. I was originally interested in the performance system and went to the dealership the day they were installing one. I watched the install then listened to it after the install.

I thought it wasn't quite loud enough so I had them put the off road system on. I was really pleased with it right from the start. The main difference I heard was at idle. The off road rumbled at idle where the performance did not.

However, my off road sounded much better after two days of driving, approximately 100 miles. So I'm sure the performance model sounded better after some break in too.

Food for thought.

Your GMPP "off road" axle back will continue to get louder with time. I've had mine for about 3 months and its fairly aggressive (definately more aggressive than it was at first). It sounds good. But I'm going to be selling mine (like new for a good price if anyone's interested), because I think it might become too loud with long tubes.
Next week I'm putting long tubes, high flow cats, and a full catback exhaust on my Camaro.

Borla is the closest to GMPP from my understanding and maybe even made by Borla??? Borla is under $600 and has a great tone and isn't full of crackle like some.

The GMPP off road was $1000 installed. From what I understand, it is the Borla Axel back. Of course it costs more because of the GMPP stamp.

The best thing about the GMPP axle back is the 4.5'' very thick walled exhaust tips with the bowtie built into it. For anyone interested I'll be putting my GMPP "off road" axle back up for sale in the for sale forum next week at a very good price.

on gmpartsdirect.com, it says the gm off road exhaust is 676 bucks, so around 700 shipped or so. not too bad, might have to make a purchase soon.

Anyone have pics of the GMPP exhaust for the GFX package, w/o tips.

I'd like to see what the ends look like where the tips would be.

I had my GMPP axle back street version installed yesterday. Has a deeper tone and not really loud. I cannot really tell any difference from inside the car. I have no drone in mine so far. Cost was 874.00 dealer installed and they look great. It does not sound loud just a good tone from what I can hear a lower speeds. I could tell it was different when the technician pulled it out of the shop. Funny thing is the General Manager came up to me and stated that I should have bought the corsa exhaust, because that is who makes GMPP Exhaust. I told him that I was worried about the warranty and problems arising from any mods done.

His exact quote was " In 30 years I have never seen any exhaust change by itself hurt and car, truck or SUV that I have sold" He also said don't worry that they will take care of my car if the need arises.
