CAI Intake + Mass Air Flow Sensor upgrade?

Thinking about purchasing the Cold Air Inductions intake and the Mass Air Flow Sensor. But have any of you added the Mass Air Flow Sensor and noticed a big difference in power?

Definitely recommend the CAI intake... best intake you can buy for the LFX in my opinion. Great quality, fitment and sound.

Does anyone have any real documented experience with the CAI actually improving HP/TQ?

The company themselves does. I highly doubt they completely made up the fact that it increases performance at least somewhat.

Im not kidding myself that it makes the car "way faster" or anything like that but... I do buy the fact that it could increase HP by 5 or so and at the very minimum allows the engine to breath more freely and cooler air than the stock restrictive air box.

It is a well engineered bolt on and Im happy with mine. If you cant afford one, then don't buy one but In my opinion - for a few hundred bucks, its something that is going to be on the car for years and really isn't that expensive long term if you take care of it.

I'm not banging on anyone's choice to install a CAI. We all have our own reasons as to what we purchase and why I'm just genuinely curious if these have been tested independently of the companies claim. Cold Air Inductions claims 16+ HP at the rear wheels. That's a substantial gain (around 6% increase in RWHP)

Understood. Im not sure if I buy 16 rwhp increase either to be honest. Also interested to hear if anyone has tested this claim on their own...

That's the peak across the sweep. Like at 4700 stock is 220 and with the cai at 4700 it's 236. Athe very top of the peak rwhp stock LFX is 260 rwhp ,with the cai its 265 rwhp. These are just examples, not the real numbers. On my K+N it was 16 peak across the sweep and 9 or so on the top. So it is not a 6% gain at max rwhp, it's 6% at the maximum gain across the sweep. This basically how all gains on mods are 'pitched', unless stated that it is a gain in max rwhp. So you can't say 16 gain with cai, plus 15 gain for axleback magnaflow exhaust, so 31 rwhp gain. That's not how it works. They call that 'ricer math'. You will get your biggest gain from your first mod, and much less from each one after the first. The exepetion is a tune. They are always described as a gain in max rwhp.

Back in 2010/11 time frame one of the sponsors on this site tested the following set-ups and posted the information for everyone. I briefly looked for the thread, but could not find it. I saved the information in a JPG to post again as necessary.

YES, there are gains with more air flow.

Awesome, looks like you can't go wrong with either the Injen or CAI

Any cai is a good upgrade over stock. There should be a cai for just about every bodies price range.

I remember putting a Holley 4 bbl on my 57 Chevy and my 69 Chevelle SS and the sound it made when it kicked in. CAI is similar ... sweet! And if it bumps hp, that's just a bonus.
