Realistically what's considered fast to you...

I am just curious what you consider fast? The car scene has become pretty competitive these days. I see a lot of Dyno Queen's.

Let's narrow this down some more. A car in street trim, street tires. I'll give you swapping the rear for drag's at the track. At what HP level do the car's become a wash for regular daily driving. I get it, its all in how much you use the go pedal. But I hear different numbers in the community of friends I have at least. Most top at about 600WHP being the top for a daily driven car.
Personally I have never owned a car with as much power as my stocker has...so I have little input into the subject. I have never driven a car with 600hp or more. My buddies G8 is TT and laid down 718WHP. To me its stupid quick...but mainly unusable on the street, thankfully he has a low boost setting knocking him back down to 550ish WHP.

Just curious what everyone else feels is the best balance of performance and usability.

I've always felt 500-600ish WHP is more than enough for a daily.. although I'm not a racer, nor have I had a car with that much HP. I just feel and hope to get mine to about 500WHP some day. my 2 cents

DD should be comfortable but enough power to keep you awake! my V6 is good enough for that. it's not like I'm going to race anyone on my way to\from work!
plus mpg is a real thing when you commute across town!
so 260=300 for DD is just fine. and it's still handles like a Camaro! lol

now don't get me wrong, having a nice SS for weekend fun is my goal! then I would be happy with 600!!

I've hit 150 in my SS and 182 in my Vette, both have 400+ HP; I don't race any more, especially on the street due to not trusting the other drivers skill or experience ... so that's fast enough for me.

I feel for a fun daily, minimum 300whp, maximum 500 or so whp. Being at around 400whp has proven to be a fun daily :P.

Since we rarely can drive our cars (legally or otherwise) over 100mph, I find quickness (0-60 times) to be more fun on the street. A really quick car, one that can plant the power hard, is a freaking blast!

I can daily mine with 740 whp. Perfect street manners but can light up the tires at 70 mph on the freeway when wanted.

400-600 crank hp is plenty. My SC 552 is more than enough for the street. I see people running 800-1000 hp, but that is overkill for the street. And they don't make good daily drivers.

One summer I had a temporary, part-time job transporting cars for one of the big car rental companies. We typically drove them 50-200 miles and dropped them off.

Obviously we didn't transport any high HP sports cars, but it was always a fun day when you got a car that was around 300 horsepower. One of my favorites was a Nissan Maxima. Compared to much of the rest of what we drove, it seemed quite peppy. We didn't thrash them, but it was fun to get on the gas a few times throuhout the day.

We are just about 3 weeks into owning a '14 SS/RS. The 400 HP is nice. I was out Saturday for a long drive and had several occasions to pass some slower cars on two-lane rural roads. At 400 HP, you blink and you've jumped from 60-85 mph. It's been about 20 years since our last sports car, a Corvette that felt strong to me, but was well under 300 HP.

For the past several months I've been driving 548 whp and love it! She purrs like a kitten in normal driving, but roars like a lion when I lean into her. It's a symphony of sound when I drop her top.

I leave for the office early in the am, so I take her for a walk quite a bit. The problem now is that I want more. LOL!

Buy a sport bike if you want to know what fast is. My 2003 GSXR750 is slow by todays standards and it does 0 to 60 in about 3 seconds . My best 1/4 mile time was 12 seconds and that's slow. I suck at launching.
