Just thought I'd get some tips and ideas on items that come in handy when trailering a car for a long distance.

I currently have a 18' Dovetail Trailer but am curious as in maybe a car cover for the camaro when hauling it? Any ideas? Is there such things that will tie down but not hurt the car?

you could get a rock shield for the front of the trailer to stop bugs and rocks from hitting the car, still leaves it open to the elements though. I'm not sure if a regular car cover would cause any damage at highway speeds

thats what Im thinking... some shield/guard thing on the front will be all i really need. But no clue on place to purchase... or just make my own for the trailer?

if you have the ability to make one i would suggest that route as it may be cheaper, but if not heres one for about $400

You might be better off building something, if & only if you can build it right. I.E. don't use nails/screws, use bolts & don't skimp on them.

Make sure your ramps are LONG & WIDE!

DO NOT LEAVE A CAR COVER ON WHEN USING AN OPEN TRAILER! The wind buffeting the cover will scratch the p!ss out of the paint in just a few miles at highway speeds. I've seen it happen, to some reaaaaally nice cars...lesson learned the hard way.

Pay attention here, a cover will rub the paint completely off!

Here is a pic of my car car cover when I trailer

As others have suggested get a rock shield and DO NOT use a car cover not only damage to your car but as it tears apart from the wind it could fly off and cause an accident behind you.
