Gm paint match rattle can
I was thinking of painting my intake and valve covers summit white. Gm sells high build primer, summit white lacquer paint and clear in cans for about $20. Anyone have any experience with this? Just wondering how well it looks and holds up... much cheaper than taking them to a body shop...

Nahh.. I wouldn't use that. I would just go to a autobody shop supply store that does can injection bro. You will only get good quality end result using good quality paint. Around me they have a few places that will mix your paint and then inject into a good quality spray can with good spray nozzle for like 20 bucks more. Works great for smaller stuff like your doing so you don't have to break out a spray gun. I do it all the time for tons of parts. Only things I break an actual paint gun out for is on actual full body panels. The key is good weather conditions with low humidity. Sand smooth then good primer followed by base color than good quality clear. I post a pic of the clear I use for small stuff. For the valve covers just use high heat engine primer and close as you can get high heat white engine paint. No clear on the covers as it will yellow tint later on. Just prime and paint them after sanding and cleaning.

You should be able to get a gloss white engine paint for the valve covers.

Here is the clear coat I use. It's a 2k so once you activate the hardner it's only good for 36 hrs. It's same as mixing in a gun and quality is outstanding. Very durable to. I painted my Yeti coffee cup same color as my Camaro and shot this clear over it. I still can't believe after all the abuse with this Yeti cup daily the clear still looks outstanding. All my parts are usually done with this clear except direct engine parts of metal. The stuff is pricey but beyond worth it. Takes very well to wet sanding and polishing also when cured. You will achieve results you never thought possible with this clear.
