Good used price?

Wondering what you think a great price would be on a 2014 white A/C car with 6K miles on it? Midwest dealer has had one for a while that they bought from an auction. It was listed on ebay where it was bid up to $37K, but didn't hit the reserve. Currently listed for $45K. I'm thinking that the end of the month and year in the cold midwest...maybe they are ready to deal!

They made less 14's than 15's and if I buy a third one I hope its a 14. Price is dependent on what you want to spend and what its worth to you. In my opinion none of these cars should be selling for less than 50. Im hoping we will see the value start to climb but I think that is dependent on what Chevy does in 2019/2020 and whether they release another one. If they do the market will go even lower Im afraid. If your asking where the market is at on them right now I would say that 45 for a Z with 6K miles is high when you can find them with around 2K miles in the low 40's. If they bought it at auction they likely got it in the mid to high 30s. If you want one I believe you can find better deals.

I paid a few thousand less than that for a white A/C 2015 with 6800 miles back in July of this year. They were advertising around 45k also. Good luck and you won't regret it if you decide to purchase it.

End of Month and End of Year is the best time to buy a car IMO. I was able to snag a really clean low mile used Mercedes around this time last year for a lot less than they were asking and under trade-in value. Ended up selling it to another dealer several months later for a few thousand more than I purchased it. Long story short... deals are to be had EOM/EOY

To specifically answer your question: $41,000 on THAT Z/28 would be a GREAT price.

Good luck.

Thanks for the input. I shot them an offer that would be better than whay anyone has mentioned here. We'll see if they want to dance. Do I need the car...no; do I want the car...yes. It would look good in the garage between my '13 Boss 302 and '16 GT350!

Do you have the Boss 302 LS? Had a '13 black LS that I traded on a ZL1. Missed it like crazy and then found the Z/28, which is like best of both. Best of luck with you offer.

I think they are close enough in the ballpark to make a deal, shoot them a price at $42K and that would still be a good deal.

I offered $39.5K and haven't heard back. I have a friend that bought one brand new off the lot for $50K!

I wish my Boss was a LS...just a race red Recaro-Torsen car. My GT350 is a magnetic track pack.

I may be biased, but you're not serious about buying that z/28 at 39.5. I'd suggest trying to buy another mustang for your stable if a z/28 isn't in your budget.

BTW, I bought my second brand new Z/28 in July for 48.9.

Happy New year.

this one was just recently bought in TX ... "We paid $35.9K for the Z. I mean, even with 45k miles on it..."

Granted, it had 45k miles, but should that be a "death sentence" for the price? The '12-'14 ZL1 pricing is similar...cars under 10k miles are high $30k's to low $40k's and you put 25k+ miles on them and the price drops to low $30's. To me, a "low mileage" car is just that and wouldn't think >25k miles would destroy the car or hurt the value/sale price, but apparently it does for the ZL1 and Z

Why does it have to be that a z/28 "isn't in his budget and should stick to a mustang"? Last I checked from MANY posts on here that bow-tie guys are pretty mad that the GT 350 cars are holding better value than the ZL1 and Z/28. I get you don't want him or anyone to buy below what you want the car to be worth to secure the value in your car and what you spent, but if he can snag a deal (like people do every day on any "product") then why shouldn't he? Would you turn down the exact same deal if you were able to pay $39.5? Would you say, "nah, I think it's a $45k car, here's an extra $6K".

Hey Kentucky, thanks for your input. I've owned 5, 5th Gen Camaros, including two ZL1s and two Z/28's. I know the value of these cars better than most. The car in question is a great buy at 41K. (Read my earlier post.) Making a 39.5 offer is not serious. All the OP is trying to do is see how desperate the seller is.

I have absolutely no problem low balling dealers in hopes that one will bite--especially at the end of the year. If you get one to bite, then congratulations.

Remember this is a forum and we all have opinions.

Happy new year.

Yep...very true & wasn’t calling out your personal opinion b/c everyone has an is entitled to one, just the part about “if a camaro isn’t in your budget then buy a mustang” was a little “much” in my opinion. I’m glad you’ve been able to have such an amazing stable; bet it has been a blast enjoying those toys!

Thanks for the input. I had been talking to the dealer a couple weeks ago, and told them to get back to me if the car was still available after xmas. He did and I replied to his email and offered $39.5K. He didn't even email me back. I contacted the dealership through cargurus and made the offer again. They finally got back to me and said they would pass on the offer. In all honesty, I was expecting a counter offer, but they didn't even bother. And I would have considered it. They lost a potential sale because of their attitude. To me, that gives some insight on how they would be to work with as a dealership anyway. (they also have a GT350R at $20K over MSRP).

Yes, I have 2 special mustangs that I track, but i also have a '69 Firebird Trans Am clone track/street car that has a 600 horse LS3, a cage, and all the goodies that I built from scratch after finding it as a basket case on Craigslist. I'm not just a Mustang fan boy....I guess I am doing what I wish my dad had done when he was my age during the muscle car era...buying special cars that I enjoy driving and working on...that my son will have some day.

I am smart enough to know that saying that I am buying these cars as an investment is just my way of trying to justify the purchase to myself. The money could surely make a lot more invested elsewhere, but I like cars! I don't have a budget, but that doesn't mean I am not going to try to find what I think is the best possible deal! Do I think the car is worth $41ish...yes. I could go out and buy a ZL1 1LE, but I am far enough behind now that I can have fun looking for and buying used....and save a heck of a lot of money! The new 1LE is on the list for 2-3 years from now!

That $36k car was me... and honestly, all that's there for the mileage is the paint is as expected for a daily-driven Z28.. which I don't care about. I didn't even bother trying to offer lower because I already knew that was as low as it was going to go and the fact we could afford it made it a no-brainer. 2k+ miles on it and counting!

The fact they didn't counter offer says it all. I would have done the same as you. However, when you find another that's on the low end of the $40's, don't hesitate on it. Best thing I've ever purchased.
