Frustrated with CAI, keeps throwing signal

I installed a CAI on my camaro (AF Dynamic).

I have checked all of the connections etc. and they are all tight and installed as per the instructions. It kept throwing the sensor.

I replaced the mass flow sensor on it because I read that there were certain ones that would always trip if a CAI was put on. I put on one that was rated to go with a CAI.

It is still tripping the sensor, any suggestions?

Return it and buy a name brand instead of a $100 Chinese special. When designed improperly it can throw the range of the MAF signal off or you have leaks in the system.

Did you damage the connection on the cai itself? Also if you bought tune version of a cai that may also be the problem.

This thing has been so problem free I sometimes disconnect the MAF just so I can experience a problem with the GM Z/28 CAI.

OP, don't throw the maf sensor, that can damage it!
Seriously though, what code(s) are you getting. Need more info to speculate on what is happening

Is it an oiled filter or dry filter?

I agree with MrChrisLS3, if it's an oiled filter you could be getting oil on the MAF. However, like Synner said a reputable company like CAI, Rotofab, Vararam, Chevy's Z/28 intake, or even K&N would likely give you better results.

I'm just going to say this.. The basic concept of the intake is the same no matter what brand. Brand to brand some may flow better or give you better power but as far as throwing codes..they are all the same with the exception of cheap materials collapsing or something like that. Its a closed system. Check for leaks. That is number one. One of the most common ones is around the air flow meter on the tube.

It's a dry filter.

Reading about the AFDynamic and the K&N, they both look the same and are made with the same materials. Really don't think it is product quality issue as someone suggested.

I will go back through all of the connections again and see if something may have been missed.

I am running the same intake. No issues. I was pleased with the quality of it.

Obviously double check for leaks, especially pre maf. Also check the sensor that is has a letter in front of the number. The lettered mafs are the stronger ones. Also make sure the maf is installed properly, if I recall correctly, it is directional.

Ive had K/N , and now own CAI , cold air inductions closed system, seen people with air raid, etc... nobody has ever had codes thrown for any reason, this is a user error, he either damaged the maf while removing it, and or screws aren't holding it so it might be rattling around, or a cheap brand cai is restricting the maf on the inside, or oil could be damaging it, but dry filters, never had ever any issue after day 1 of install, these things are bulletproof.. to use and install, i blame the user. , check your maf to being lose or damaged or wiring issue when you replaced it.
