Any auto electricians out there? Have a stab at this!
I posted some time ago that [what we call] the Engine Management Lamp, or MIL; Malfunction Indicator Lamp on my 2010 was not illuminating at start up or at any other time!
Every other lamp in the cluster works as it should as do all gauges. So I finally managed to get hold of a cheap spare cluster with the idea of taking anything needed off it. However, I plugged that one in only to find [grrrr] that the lamp still doesn't light up. Therefore it follows there is no "feed" to that lamp. The harness behind the gauges looks untouched and no signs of being messed with. Does anyone have any idea where to start looking as I have never come across this before. I have plugged in a Snap On diagnostic tool and the OBD port functions fine. Last edited by Gordo-D; 06-27-2018 at 10:37 AM. |

There is a MIL control circuit on pin 17, Brown with a white trace. Looking at the face of the connector to the IPC it will be on the bottom row toward the left (counting from bottom right which is pin 11). It is a ground side driver (grounds to turn on the light).

Thank you both, it turns out it was a fuse, a 5 amp number 15 in the main fuse box marked "IGN".
TBH I never thought of checking them as I assumed maybe the light conversion to UK spec or maybe the fitting of a Toad alarm\immobiliser may have compromised the wiring somewhere before my ownership. I don't ever remember seeing it lit since I have had it, and no idea at all why just that one fuse had blown. That will teach me to jump to conclusions.
