HOW TO SHIFT TO WIN?

Hi all, so I have a Camaro SS, but I don't think I have the experience driving stick shift to make the best out of it. If I was Drag racing HOW should I shift, to what RPM should I push the Camaro? Any help will be appriciated.

Your best bet will be to practice. (And you'll have more fun learning about you Camaro that way too.) One place you might want to take a look at is the Rookie club.

You might find some good info there.

Thanks Francis, but my other question is, Do I shift at the peak of the hp or at the peak of the torque?

Our short throw shifter wouldn't hurt either.

You want to shift when that particular shift point will bring your RPM in the next gear to the optimal range for torque.

exactly. in addition, make sure you get back on the gas before the clutch starts to reengage in the next gear. this will prevent you from losing all your weight transfer and "bogging" slightly. trust me on this one............you can see/hear this mistake being made on the edmunds insideline test runs on the 2010 SS.

this will give you that extra 10th. believe me, a lot of shifting is also about how you reengage the next gear.

It was the dog. Me...I just stand in the corner like a little church mouse...I get more out of hearing what others have to say.

Anyone know what the peak torque points are for the first four gears?
