VVT dyno information needed

So, the camaro 6L80 has wide ratios. VVT widens the powerband by retarding and advancing the cam. So why does everyone delet it? Second question, for dyno tuners only, if I get the TS 3.2 VVT cam it is limited to 20deg either way. So what settings by RPM have you seen work for you? When do you go RPM wise from retard to advance?

The VVT equipped L99 has a wider torque curve than the LS3, which has a higher peak horsepower.

For some reason, people want the bragging rights to peak hp, even though a wide torque curve is better for both street and strip.

I wouldn't say everyone deletes it in fact on here many are running an upgraded VVT setup and making some very good power. The LS3 conversion used to be the main choice but it seems to have changed alot in the last couple of years to keeping VVT. To me keeping VVT is a no brainer and results in a much faster car when cammed.

not a dyno tuner.....have one the best..and so you know your new cam phaser should be set for your new VVT cam..... there you go......VVT good...… stock cam phaser not......you will have to limit some the advance and retard because your high lift now and have to avoid PTV interference...…………. the cam maker should tell you about this stuff....

This is a good article on the subject. Might have some info you're looking for OP.

People delete the DOD AFM junk because with those AFM lifters tend to fail, and you can't run as big of a cam with said lifters.

But we keep VVT for its ability to make more tq down low.

BTW, swap the timing chain tensioners for the dog bone.

Mine was cracked at 30k miles and I assume it had been cracked a while before the tear down.

All great information. TSP 3.2 is in my top 10 list. I’m keeping VVT and dropping AFM as well.
