Suggested Oil Brand for Oil Change

I just called Midas and talked to a dude who owes me a free oil change for some work they did on my Monte Carlo. I told him that I wanted full synthetic Mobil 1 and he said I'm looking at like $60 as a difference but he said they don't have Mobil 1 after some past performance test were ran and it was determined that Shell full synthetic performed better and that Midas now fully stocks the Shell brand and that he can do it for an additional $30 since they have that stocked. Do you guys recommend Shell or do I stick with Mobil 1 or another brand?

GM recommends Mobil 1 for the Camaro and the Corvette for a reason. I personally would stick with it.

Does anyone read their owner's manual and/or your maintenance instructions. Sorry if this sounds catty, but geez.
