I will be leaving for about a year and concerned about my car sitting for a year. What can i do to help protect my car,investment, and georgious ride. Does anyone have any words of advise?

Do you have access to a garage?

Some of the basics I'd recommend;

- a good detailing including a coat of wax/poilish
- garage/cover
- gas tank FULL
- Battery Tender
- rubber/wooden "mats" for tires to prevent flat spotting

There are more detailed specifics for storage, but they're the basics.

Also, Sta-Bil should be put in the gas tank. Sta-Bil is available in the car section of Wal-Mart.

All good suggestions. I think doing a final prep, clean, and protection of all the surfaces then putting a cover over it is probably the biggest. My friend always leaves a box of arm & hammer inside when he stores his show cars for extended periods just to absorb/prevent any musty odors from it being sealed up. He also closes all A/C vents.

I would also place something in the tail pipes to ensure no rodents climb into the pipes and make a home. If you do not want to do that, in the storage area place moth balls around the edges of the garage, it keeps snakes, mice etc away.

Over-inflate the tires by a few pounds will also help keep flat-spotting away.
