Rude truck driver rant

Between Oklahoma City and Tulsa yesterday we got stuck behind two semis with a bad case of rude. They were driving side by side at 60 on a 75 mph toll road. After about 15 minutes the left one pulled over in front of the right side idiot and about 3 cars got by before the right one forced his way into the left lane and pulled up next door to his idiot neighbor. After another 10 minutes I got off the toll road for a side trip and there was an Oklahoma State Trooper car parked just after the toll road exit. I got out and explained the situation too him and added that it is probably not illegal but was very rude. He agreed and said he would “talk to the Toll road people”. I would estimate that there were 30 cars backed up behind them when I got of the toll road. I understand that it takes some time to pass slower traffic and have held up faster traffic myself but this was deliberate. I can remember when truckers were the best drivers on the road and could be trusted where as now they are just a bunch of lowlifes.

Rant over.

Well, I got a story that happened today that might make you feel better. We were driving on Icy roads today and a truck was up my ass blowing his horn and flashing his lights because I wasn't going fast enough for him. When the road opened up into two lanes he passed me and threw cinders all over my jeep. Well, we went up the road about two miles and there he laid off into the middle of the hi-way. He crossed over a bridge and lost it. I drove on by and said to my wife " good for him, he deserves to be where he's at". She still called 911 to help the jackass.

I would have pulled over and waited for the Highway patrol to arrive and explain how he was driving reckless and reported what he did, maybe he would add reckless driving to his ticket count.......

I totally agree, the professionalism of truckers has dropped immensely. There are still a few good ones out there but I have seen this crap happening a lot. I guess they think it's funny. I've seen dangerous habits like tailgating within a foot from the car in front and cutting people off changing lanes. I live just off I75 and I see stuff like this every day and have come close to getting taken out many times.

I remember when I was young truckers were always assisting cars on the side of the road, flashing their tail lights when you allowed them to pass, warning other of police ahead, etc.... Then again, people in general have gotten much ruder as time has passed as well. But still, when you are traveling down the road in a vehicle that weighs 20 times or more what the average car does and you do it for a living you should be a little more careful.

Seeing him stuck in the middle of the median with the trailer twisted was good enough for me. Besides I wasn't going to let that jackass ruin my day. We had somewhere we had to be. Oh and I'm sorry to the op, I feel like I kinda of thread jacked him, but I thought you would think my story might in someway be Karma's way fixing what happen to you.

I work with truckers on a daily basis. Some of them are the best and would do anything to get the job done, others are just plain stupid. i mean, why would you dock a trailer to the door WITH THE TRAILER-DOORS CLOSED??????

but what i'm really surprised about is that so many of them don't have a GPS device or something like that. every day i get calls from drivers asking for directions to our facility which is located in a major business park, clearly marked on all highway exits.

For the rest of you...Thanks alot guys, it makes me feel like crap to realize you don't really give a hoot HOW the ass-wipe gets on the store shelves, (or the food, clothing, and EVERYTHING ELSE you own) as long as I stay out of your way so you can get to work, church, bar, store or wherever it is you're going.

The immaturity level of this thread is off the scale... Truckers, just like each of you, are individuals. I am not the person that did the things in your stories, nor do I, along with the MAJORITY of my trucking brothers do these things. So why would you lump me in with one or two INDIVIDUALS who did.

I have a counter-point for each one of your negative comments above, but I feel it would be a waste of time to debate. I see how you feel about me, maybe it's time I change my attitude toward you.

Diddiyo, do you know about the new laws in Jersey regarding trucks off the interstate? We're bound in New Jersey more than any other state, to know exactly where we're going, and we trust people like you to help us to get in and out without fanfare.

I use GPS on my laptop, but it doesn't tell me about the 12'-6" overpass just down the road, and it rarely distinguishes between industrial areas and housing additions.

As long as ........ screw it... Not worth my time. You folks just keep on hating, I'll keep on making sure you get clothed and fed.

uuh, no haven't heard of anything?! but we don't own any trucks/drivers, we use sub-carriers. so i'm not 100% into the laws. but i could ask my buddy over at the trucking company tomorrow. but like i said, we're in a major businesspark right off the turnpike & 287.
and in regards to the overpass, that's something i havent thought about. makes perfect sense now.

I have to admit that it is not just these truckers but bad drivers in general that got my goat.

However, I don't see how delivering toilet paper gives them the right to be terroists.
