Smallest rims possible for 2010 ss
Hello. Anyone what's the smallest rims u put on your
5gen. I am putting in a lift in my garage and for winter storage I thought I could gain ceiling clearance by putting on smaller rims. 5 x 120's on... Problem will be clearance with the brembos I think |

Well, some 17s will fit with stock brakes. I think if you do a v6 brake swap you can put 15s on.. tho i don't wholly understand why you want smaller wheels

How much room do you expect to gain? I mean the car isnt that high so eventually you would be too low for the lift.

How about some lowering springs. They give you a great stance, make it more fun in the turns and you won't have to swap your rims every time you want to park your car. Probably a lot cheaper then a second set of rims too

Totally thought this was going to be a drag racing purposes/traction/sidewall thread when I saw the title..
![]() Greenhornet, Some grinding of the LCAs goes along with it. Ryan Stevens had to grind when he had the V6 brakes.

When I think lift I am thinking 2 post that picks up on the frame. I suppose you could mean a drive on lift, I wasn't thinking about those. 17s with low pro tires might get you down to maybe a 25" tire? lowering springs are my vote tho.

AFAIK, If you have the Brembo brakes, in order to clear them you're going to need either a 20" wheel, or use spacers on a smaller wheel to clear the brakes.

A lot of us run 17" drag packs with Brembos. The only mods I had to make were to cut the roller skates off the front pads and tie back the e-brake cable in the rear.

I thought about this, but then I think about the scraping over speed bumps and steep driveways.

Even if you run a 17" wheel. That's 3" less. Say you run a 3" less tire to match.. that's still only 1.5" a side. All that work for 1.5" more clearance?
