2012 conversion to 2014 tail lights

New to the Gen5 site as I have owned many other Gen camaro's over the years.
Just got this 2012 and like the Tail Lights that Morimoto INC has that look like a Gen6 and wanted to know if anyone has converted a 2010-2013 over to a 2014-2015. Since the body is the same I figure I need to change the Deck lid and Rear Bumper to make the 2014-2015 tail lights work on this.
Just looking to see if anyone has done this swap before I get the parts ordered.
Any help would be great.

The deck lid is different though. The '14-'15 has the CHMSL mounted on the trunk, not the rear package shelf. Also, the area where the spoiler mounts and just above the rear bumper between the tail lights is different as well.

Let me be the first to beg you not to do it. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my '15 tail lights but you have any extremely cool and somewhat rare vehicle in a '12 ZL1. Check the build counts available elsewhere in this forum. I believe yours is under 2000. May not be a big deal now but down the road it could affect your resale value. If you like the rectangle lights there are plenty of 14-15 SS's out there that are somewhat affordable. Just my opinion, I am one of those ol' school factory original guys (boring to some).

I agree with this. I didn't realize he had a ZL1 at first, but now that its known I wouldn't do it. They do make some decent rear light replacements for our cars that are completely reversible, but unfortunately, nothing as nice as the Hero lights or similar for the later models.

It’s just parts I say do it and it can be done I’ve seen it but not in person. As long as you keep your original parts bumper/ trunk and lights you should be perfectly fine when it comes to resale value. I just found the ride that did this a couple weeks ago but the guy wouldn’t tell me what was involved. I’m probably going to do it myself. 2011 camaro done say no more.

The deck lid is different from what I can tell.

I will make sure and save all the stock parts just incase!!

I will post some pictures when it is done.
Thanks for getting right back to me.

I have 1st GEN's 2nd GEN's and 3rd GEN's so this will just help complete the field. Have to find that 4th GEN at some point.

Damn, the color on that conversion Camaro is sick. Like a bronzed pewter.

i see there is a body line on the 10-13 on the rear just above the bowtie that the 14-15 don't have so it looks like ya do need a 14-15 trunk lid.

This is one reason why I want a 14-15 zl1. That bumper with the Hero tail lights.
