Baseball sized hail +Camaro outdoors =

We went out to dinner and got home, took care of the baby and the dog, etc.... Suddenly I heard a loud thud on the roof. Then another. I ran outside just as both my Silverado ('09) and my Camaro SS ('10) were getting pummelled by hailstones the size of baseballs and softballs. By the time I ran back in to grab my keys and try to shove some stuff out of the way in the garage so I could pull the car in, it was too late. I'll post pics tomorrow when there's light out, but I did manage to film the carnage. Shortly after the hail, we had tornado sirens going off, so we ran to the basement.

While I'm saddened about damage to my vehicles, I'm thankful that we were spared any additional damage. It could have been much worse. I hope everyone else in my neck of the woods managed to get themselves and their Camaros to cover. Thankfully, I have good Insurance, so regardless of the damage, I'm covered. It just makes me sad.

-Tim

EDIT: Here are some of the pics I took. Some of the damage is hard to see due to the car being white. Pretty much every body panel with the exception of the trunk (somehow) received some sort of damage.

Sorry to hear about your damage, but it's probably for the best that it was too late by the time you were ready to move your car. I know someone who was in the hospital for a couple days because he was outside when baseball-sized hail hit, and couldn't find cover fast enough. Thank God he didn't get hit on the head!

I couldn't even imagine seeing hail that big. Biggest I've ever seen near me is about nickel size.

we get hail up here a lot also (but at least no tornados), and I freak out every time I see a forecast for hail or when it actually DOES start to fall from the sky.
Hope yours gets all fixed up nice

Hail hit here a few weeks ago, too, but much smaller than that, and we still need a new roof. I'm sure you will need one, too. What a mess. :(

Sorry about both your vehicles.

We were supposed to get hail this am in MA. Heard the storm coming, ran outside and this is what I came up with. Half inflated air mattress, egg crate, and towels. No hail, but I'll be better prepared for next time!
