Question for STOCK LS3 Guys

If you punch it in 1st or 2nd gear in between 2-3.5k RPM do you break traction?

After owning it for 6 months now, I can tell you that it depends on the temperatures outside and what you have your TC button set to.

When it was 95 degrees outside, those Pirelli tires would stick like glue and I would have to be high in the power curve. It would usually spin first, a little in second, and chirp third -- but this was with T.C. and S.T. OFF.

Now that it is cooler outside (50s and 60s), the tires will spin fairly easily with T.C. off.

No. I did drive around most of the time with TC fully engaged though. Now even with TC on, I could chirp the first three gears during WOT acceleration but just cruising in 1st or 2nd gear around 2000 rpm, then punching it? No, could not break traction and I'm glad. I want to be able to feel the G's without smoking tires all the time.

At 6000 ft altitude, I can break them loose hard on the 1-2 shift, and can slide it out most times in first. Second will not break them loose as is. Sea level might be a different story.

Thanks for the replys

I wasnt talking about breaking traction on shifts. I meant if your just just rolling in first and your at 2.5k RPM and you floor it, will you break traction or will it just MOVE. Sorry for the confusion

I have tried to do it with TC OFF and with TC/ST off and am unable to, and I'm wondering if thats the torque management, the good tires or if something is up with my power.

I guess its time for a baseline dyno.

Nah mine grips and takes off fast. I live in Hawaii though so its always in the 80s outside when im driving. However i did compete at the local SCCA event this past weekend with TC/SC OFF and i could not keep the rear end from coming out from underneath me in every turn. I was probably in 2nd gear 2-3k rpm coming out of a turn punching the gas and it was drift time.
