Debris on Air Filter

Anyone else have issues with leaves and other debris being on their filters? I think this is the first car I have owned that has had this issue.

Guess its normal then. Seems odd though. It also makes me wonder if some of the debris breaks off and makes it past the filter.

For both the engine air filter and the cabin air filter, i remove them and use the air compressor nozzle to spray low pressure air in the reverse direction through the filter elements. Greatly extends filter life. Then i vacuum out the housing. Have found cigarette butts, leaves, moths in the engine air filter housing that were stopped by the filter element. Yellow pine Pollen season here in NC does a number on those filters, amusing to see how much pollen they collected when cleaning. lol

Wow I have definitely not found those in there. Usually just small pieces of leaves and other debris.

Put an air inlet scoop on the front and watch how many critters and such show up on your filter. Like Ron, I use low air pressure to clean the filter.

Ron, where are these located and how to remove them? Thanks. Okay, I found it on the passenger side. On the driver side a lot of junk falls down through the grill opening too. I suppose remove it in the same way as one would the filter on the passenger side.

Isn't that the point of an air filter?

I thought the OP was talking about the stock airbox catching a lot of junk but it seems like everyone on this thread has an aftermarket intake. Sounds like the filter is doing its job.
I still have the factory airbox on my car and I collect alot of stuff in the box. I vacuum it out occasionally. The inlet for the airbox points straight ahead so that's probably why it collects junk.

Find the opening and figure out a way to put screen or hardware cloth over it...
