A couple of problems on my 2SS
I have about 500 miles on it now.
ever since the weather got cold, when i start it up, and wait for it to warm up, there is a weird kind of ticking(thumping) noise coming from the rear. I guess it is the fuel pump? Also when I was backing up and hit the brakes, i heard a loud thump, i thought i ran over something. but i think it sounded like a brake. when i got home and ws backing up, i heard it again and the pedal felt weird, and i could hear a sound coming from the the pedal area. it sounded like brake fluid rushing through a line. i checked the brake fluid. and it was full anyone else have this problem? |

Sounds very unique. Take it to the dealer and have them fix it under warranty.

Just take it in. It was -18c here a few days ago (-13c right now) and had no problems you are mentioning.

I heard the mild thumping from the rear the first time I went and test drove a SS auto.
The car had been running only about 5-10 sec when the noise started. I was assuming the fuel pump as well. The dealer dude just kinda stared at the passenger dash. He cut the stereo on shortly after that. Anyway, let us know what you find. |

The ticking is normal. It's probably explained here somewheres. As far as braking, you can hear fuel sloshing around in the gas tank- not sure if this is what you heard.

I have had the same thing happen with the brakes. Every once in a while it does it, but only when im backing up. At first i thought i was dragging something under the car or scraped the curb or something, but its just the brakes. Idk what it is but it does it every once in a while.

problems, not really
okay the ticking noise I hear on ocassion too, I think its the fuel pump too or possibly a sensor in the back end, Im not really concerned about it, I have 3600 miles and it still does it.
Yes you do hear the gas swishing around in the fuel tank, although I got to admit that is a bit unusual, Im used to a caddy where you never hear anything so I just chaulked it up to the sportscar expectations of feeling and hearing the road more readily, Its not a rolls royce, your gonna hear a few things. Just drive it and enjoy it. |

The antilock brake/stability control system will do a system pressure check every once in a while when you are just getting going. I have felt and heard it do it as I am pulling out of my carport. You can hear it and feel it in the brake pedal just as described. The brake pedal kicks back a bit. It's a little unnerving if you do not know what it is. My truck does it too and it is described in the owners manual.
It's normal.

I got the ticking this am as well. Comes from the firewall or back of the motor. I dunno?
At this point, I could care less, I've heard several other people having the same issue. I bought a new Camaro and it comes with a warranty so I wouldn't have to freak out everytime I thought something was wrong. If the damn thing is going to blow up, it'll be sooner than later. Either way, I figure I got another 99k miles to go to figure it out. ![]() Till then, I'm driving it. Eff the clicking at this point. lmao -Ivan |

If your car sits for any length of time (even a weekend) the brake pads tend to "weld" to the rotors with a thin layer of rust. The first time you move the car, you'll usually hear a nasty thump, then it goes away.
That's a normal thing and nothing to worry about. The first time you use the brakes, the surface rust dissipates.

Sounds like what my Cavalier used to do. Something to do with the ABS I believe. It was fixed when I took it in the get new pads. But your car is to new for that..I'd take it in just to be sure.
