air deflectors

2012 Camaro SS 2LE

I was just looking under the front of my car and I'm pretty sure there was a air deflector under the bumper and now it's gone. Is there supposed to be one there? And now I'm wondering if there is supposed to be a belly pan under there as well?

Not sure about a belly pan but the air deflector is supposed to be there. It deflects air from going under the car and causing lift. Its part of the aerodynamics. How much it changes if it is not there I cannot say.

Yes there is supposed to be one there, if you mean the small rubber one. I took mine off.

Yeah I just found one on ebay it says it's oem. They want $101 for it so I guess I'll get it. It's gotta be cheaper than the dealer. And ebay is the only place I can even find one. I just wonder if these are the right clips. https://www.amazon.com/GOOACC-Deflec...2444880&sr=8-3

No those are the wrong fasteners. My 2014 has plastic breakaway bolts and nuts. When my air deflector hit part of an inner plastic fender on the highway it snapped off half the bolts at the head. These are special fasteners that help prevent bumper damage if the deflector takes a hit.

Around 14 total pairs of plastic bolts/nuts GM 11610747 / 11610748 hold it on.
Each end of the air deflector has one hidden fastener that I did not have to mess with because they did not detach, do not know what those are. If you are lucky some may still be present under the bumper.

I took my deflector off many many years ago, looked kinda tacky so off it came. I have had my Camaro up to 157mph and so lift that I could tell. And as for a belly pan, only the ZL1's have that, I beleive. Also morepowerjoe, what is a 2012 SS 2LE ? I know of a 1LE, but not a 2LE. It should be either a 1SS or a 2SS or the V6 RS...

Only the ZL1's (and Z28's?) got the belly pan.

If you don't have a splitter, I would keep it. It helps to control air-flow under the car and around the front tires.
