Hi from CZ

Hi,
I’m from Czech Republic, working in IT industry and my hobby is car electronics and OBD. And I love sarcasm and dark humor.

Unfortunately I don’t have the Camaro yet, but it is #1 on my to-do list.
With the Eco Nazis and battery cars stupidity ruling Europe and mainly Germany, I’m afraid it is my last chance to have some fun on 4 wheels and enjoy it for few years. They already banned new V8 Camaros since mid 2019 and situation is getting worse.

For Camaro I have a budget limit. I only want Gen.6 and considering the EU prices it could be 2016 year at best. US muscle car should be V8. And it is why I’m here. Harvest as much information before purchase.

I’ll definitely seek for buyers guide or re-start some relevant thread. Now I see only one Camaro V8 for sale and good number of V6’s across Europe so second thing I’m looking for is the supercharger & V6 information.

And for those who won’t mind reading. Why Camaro in my case?

Especially when here are many used Audi’s S4, Subaru WRC etc… ?

It is dated back to 2017 when I was on a business trip in US – NC. On the airport I went to Avis car rental and lady at POS told me. “Kia place 65.” I responded that I flew 6k+miles to America and I won’t leave without US brand car, preferably Challenger. She gave me a looong look. And responded: “I’m sorry I have no Dodge, but I can give you a Chevy Camaro” “How much?” “I’ll give you free upgrade, sorry we have no Dodge”
I was standing mouth open…
Drove to hotel, checked-in and started Google Maps. There must be a nice curvy road near Charlotte… Found one and set GPS. While driving there I got a snack at White Castle (big mistake, glad I’m vaccinated). And the love story started. I was passing some abandoned shopping mall so we decided to get familiar with each other. I was unable to convince it into any donut. What kind crap Americans implemented in the name greater good and crippled fun you could have with muscle car?
Took out the owner’s manual from glove box…. HA! Keep the ESP pressed for 7sec. and the car will finally try to kill you. Left donuts and rubber there. I think I had first “drivegasm” there.
I’d like to state I don’t do speeding outside my homeland. So I was not speeding, but precisely cornering and coasting down to 10MPH, downshifting and wrrrrrroooum back to 55. At 2AM there was nobody anywhere. Fun FUN FUN in its pure form.
And it took them 57 minutes since the fun started… I had no clue where I’m but I came to lights. Decided to head back home. I was waiting for left green arrow and suddenly Christmas tree light up at my mirror. Dang. I was unsure what to do. Go from far left to far right lane and stop on the shoulder? No it would be too dangerous. The road to left after the crossroad was very dark, it could unnecessarily stress the cop, so I shut off the engine. Set hazard lights on and put both hands out of the window. Waiting.
Another fun started. Camaro, officer and me.
He blinded me with a flashlight and started with some phrase. Unfortunately his southern accent was bit complicated for me. I responded I’m not native speaker he needs to speak slowly.
My accent surprised him and I believe he thought I’m trying to tell him I was not driving fast.
“Nono, you drove fast.”
“Eeeeerr….” (my colleague told me when pulled over don’t agree and don’t aggressively disagree.)
“Do you understand? You were fast.”
“But can you speak slower?”
“Give me your driver’s license.”
I handled 2pcs Czech one and its Int’l part what derailed him a bit.
He was staring at documents “Who’s car is it?”
“From car rental.” (I was trying to find my passport, but it flew under the passenger’s seat during one of those donuts. I was not man enough to start pulling something from under the seat. Getting poisoned by fast travelling lead would definitely ruin my business trip…)
“I’m sorry officer I don’t want to make you upset but I can’t find my passport. It fell somewhere here.”
“I don’t need it.” Now I was derailed…
“Driver’s license is enough to show ID?”
“Yes. Having some fun ya?”
“Eeeee… what should I say? It’s muscle car…”
“Slow down for me.” And he gave me my license back.
“Will do, and officer I was not sure where to stop the car when you pulled me over. Was this OK?
“You did well. Drive safe”
“Good bye.”
Not sure if being dressed in suit helped, but on the other side I was not aware of breaking any rule. Needless to say I drove back to hotel like I was having pack of eggs on the rear seats. I think he asked colleagues to watch for grey Camaro…

Sorry for long text and grammar mistakes.

Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

If you want a six gen. with a V6 and use a compressor on it, then the price in Europe will out almost the same as an atmospheric V8.
And if you buy a V6, I guarantee you that in time you will be sorry that you did not buy a V8. And V6 consumption vs. The V8 is not so diference.

One hundred people, one hundred tastes ...
But for me, 5 gen. before 6 gen.
Even though it has its flaws, it is bigger, cheaper and after a few mods, the difference between these two cars will almost be annuled.

And anyway ... Five is just nicer

Welcome sir!! And what a cool story for sure. Glad you didn't get a ticket and was able to continue your "fun" ride. Also nice choice in your car wants.. As George says above, get the V8 if you can, otherwise you will be kicking yourself for not doing so. When I bought mine back in 2011 I told myself, no six cylinder is going in my garage, gotta have the V8!! And with that being said, there is soooo much you can do now with these V8's it's unreal. Doesn't cost too much to make a real screamer out of a stock V8 Camaro. Any way, welcome and good luck in your search. Stay well!!!
