Need some advice
Okay so I did some work and had a small leak from my oil cooler adapter.
When I was putting back on the oil cooler adapter I snapped one of the bolts. Well I ended up getting the bolt out and replaced them bolts with some stainless bolts of the same size, maybe a tad bit shorter. I torqued them down just pass hand tight with a small wrench driver 10mm. Well I sent the car to the shop for them to fix the oil cooler adapter leak and just yesterday they have told me they had a bolt snap on the oil cooler adapter when removing the adapter to change the seal. So now they have to remove the broken bolt. They have since removed the oil pan. I sent this car to them around Thursday or last week or Friday. I would have to check. The car had a host of small issues. Nothing major, mostly I just needed some maintenance and a tune for my new cam, check a couple push rods measurements and fix a wire harness, and check transmission fluid.... Well now I’m really wondering if I might be getting scammed. They also explained I had the wrong sealant on the oil pan from when I changed my cam. I used red gasket maker in the corners on the oil pan for my timing cover. I’m really stressed now. It’s Friday, and he explained he will look at the broken bolt Monday. Kinda worried, not going to lie. These are some of his messages, “ You had a damaged bolt in the oil cooler. We are have a little trouble fixing it.” “ Snapped when we tried to take it off.” “ They might have been over torques or a lower grade bolt.” I replaced the bolts on the adapter with grade 10 stainless bolts. They where from auto zone and the exact same size. Even the same 10mm They since have removed the oil pan to, kinda worried they are trying to juice me for the hours. |

Video of the oil cooler leak: https://youtu.be/emKjgSReIJ4
As you can see not major, but it needed fixed regardless. I’m starting to think they tried to tighten it Up some more to see if that would fix the leak and tightened to much and snapped one. I mean, hoe easy is it to snap a 10mm stainless grade 10 bolt? Could you snap one just by removing it!? And guys, I know my strength, I didn’t put these bolts on stupid tight. I’m talking, Just passed hand right. |

Okay looking back. I am almost 100% positive they are class 10.9 bolts. I will have to take a look when I get home as I have the bolts at my
House in the package still. |

Why did they take the oil pan off? I'm assuming to take off the oil cooler but I took mine off and put back on with the oil pan still on I believe.

They may be waiting on parts OR a certain qualified person that decided to call out of work to repair it correctly.
If I were you I would let them do their thing to clear all codes and recalibrate anything necessary. Just continue to follow up with them on a daily basis and keep it professional. Don’t stress it bud. They will fix it and put the correct bolts in there for you. |
