Depressing concept on Holden V6!

I was looking at some info on the Holden V6 (Australia), the original version of our 3.6L SIDI V6 and found these photos.

You will notice, on close inspection, that the exhaust plenum is cast into the cylinder head! So much for headers! Sure glad there are still some performance guys around in GM engineering! They needed a real manifold to tune up some more HP! This engine puts out 210KW (281 HP) so we get 23 extra ponies in our version!

This is one innovation that I personally hope doesn't catch on here! Probably doesn't make a difference in a family car but, it sure does limit modification to the exhaust tract! With new EPA mandates every year, could it be long before this is required? That would be depressing!

Here's a couple other angles of the engine...

This looks like the mechanism that adjusts the cam timing. It could just be a damper of some sort though. I haven't figured that out yet! I haven't seen a photo of anything that would indicate the use of a variable rocker (like the Honda Vtec system). It looks to be a typical shim under bucket "lifter" setup. There must be an electrically controlled hydraulic valve that uses engine oil pressure to rotate the cam gear. Would be the only way I can see to do it with what's in this photo. (Of course, I'm open to corrections at any time)

Anyway, this is just presented for general information. There could be many differences between the Holden and our powerplant. But, bottom line, ours is better!

so instead of the turbo bolting onto the end of the cast manifold you posted screaming, the hot side of the turbo bolts up right to the wierdo cast head beowulf posted up......and obviously, you'd need a pair of T3 or T4's to go TT probably need a nice heat shield in between the heads/turbos to work out....looks like a serious possibility of heat soak or radiant heat soak through the heads, but it looks like it could be done balance the internals to run to 9K and have a camaro that sounds like a ferrari and goes like a tt supra.....zzzzooooooooooommm

Or you could just run a spacer from the block to the turbo.
