pulling differential question

Will be dropping differential to install tru trac in my 2010 2SS. I have watched several you tube videos all show that they pull apart the suspension and pull the entire axles out of diff as one piece. Why not just leave suspension alone and remove the axle shafts? (aftermarket G Force axles) I'm a car guy and completely confident I can get diff out but which way is quicker? Thanks.

I think the last time I pulled mine I removed the axle shafts but I think to get them out the suspension has to be partially disconnected.

Axles off the hubs isn't a big deal, if you have a socket big enough for the nut.

Removed my diff last week. I pulled the axles. Disconnect the toe link, upper control arm and lower control arm at spindle. Remove the abs sensor and you should be able to move the spindle out far enough to remove the axles. Btw I have gforce renegade axles with trutrac and not happy with excessive play at the inner stub we’re it goes in the diff. Been told by gforce and Eaton that it’s normal.

car up on jack stands, exhaust off, started pulling suspension apart to pull axles out and really not hard at all. I do have newer BMR springs, toe rods and trailing arms I installed last fall so all came apart pretty easy. not in a hurry so taking my time. I wont pay any shop to do this, it's just nuts and bolts.

Diff out, local shop install trutrac, stayed with stock gears. NOW, replacing the diff bushings with BMR Bushings is another story although I found-invented (?) a removal tool for removing the original bushings. big 1 1/2 socket, 1/2 inch all tread, several washers and nuts on both ends. ran the all thread thru the socket and stock bushing, put couple washers on each end and started tightening. make sure the washers opposite of socket are smaller that the socket so it will pull the rubber bushing into the socket. The rubber will rip out of the metal sleeve. use a saws all and carefully cut a little into the sleeve and use a chisel to beat the metal out. Is a PITA but just keep working at it.

I only pulled the Pass side axle, After that the diff came out with not issues. My Offset Diff bushings didn't come in in time but I got the 3.91 and True Trac installed, setting up the rear was a bit of a bitch.
