2012 Camaro ZL1 rear noise

Original owner
2800 miles; yes i know i have been busy not to drive it more
I changed fluid at 500 at dealership

Pulled the car out yesterday and went to the gas station; topped fuel off and added octane boaster; i have done this before; i cant recall if I noticed the sound before this though

Sitting idle or revved in garage no noise. So engine ok
Going down the road there is a very strange noise under the car towards the rear
Cant be brakes. Happens when non braking
I noticed the sound also when im in the road backing up into my driveway at a angle so not to rub the front spoiler

Somewhere in the Suspension; u-joint; mount???

Very confused on this one

Suggestions where to look?

Thanks
Keith

Couldnt resist adding the photo
Mine is the yellow
I love this car!!

Drain some rear end fluid and put a bottle of rear end friction modifier in it and see if it stops.

These cars are known for groaning rear diffs when turning

I checked under the rear the am

Noticed the rear sway bar vertical linkages is real loose?
These should be snug right?

I will add the friction modifier too

If you're going to bother draining some fluid and adding modifier, you might as well do a complete diff fluid change if its been a while.

Just use the GM recommended rear end fluid it already has the friction modifier in it, you don' want to double add it.. And yes you can twist the vertical link back and fourth but the connecting bolts should be snug and the connecting bushings not damaged..

Yes the sway bar links should be tight.

Well I haven’t gotten to the differential fluid yet but the rear sway bar end link rubber bushings are split.

This may be the culprit of the popping or clunking noise i have been hearing
Note the noise is sporadic not constant

Any one have to change these out? Easy enough but just curious

It could be a strut/shock leaking or needing replaced. Just a thought to check

I need to do mine. Where did you get the parts from to swap them out? Are you able to share a link to them? I have an appointment to put my ZL1 on a hoist Friday, but want to go ahead and order the parts. I know I saw one is cracked and loose. Sounds like the same exact issue. Thank you.
