Electric Window Woes

Just lately, my driver's side window has been acting goofy. When it is down and I hit the UP button, it goes almost to the top but then comes back down about half-way and stops. A second attempt to raise it from there usually works but not always. Sometime it takes a couple of attempts.

I'm guessing it's a switch going bad?

Theres a reset procedure. If I remember correctly you hold the button up until it goes all the way up then hold it down until it goes all the way down. It might be the opposite. I know ive had that issue once or twice and the reset always fixed it. Its usually caused by some debris or whatnot in the window track or whatever

You know, that sounds very familiar...I think early on, I may have had to do that. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

Try wiping down you window foam trim around the window, and the edge of the window with some rubber/vinyl cleaner protectant. The window system has a safety feature I have read that if the window detects any "pinch" or resistance while going up, it will imediantly cycle back down halfway. Mine did this before and I wiped everything down and it never did it again. Good luck.

My driver side window would need re-indexing every day, sometimes more. I eventually replaced the regulator and motor and it has been perfect since.

Mine gets the roll window down and up message when I don’t keep it on the battery tender. It’s still got the original battery, and gets driven one every couple months. I’m sure it’ll need replaced soon enough. As long as I keep it running frequently or on the tender I have no window issues.

I'll knock on wood as mine has been fine since I took the two suggestions above. I think it may have had something to do with the fact that my granddaughter kept it parked outside during the couple of months she had it so the car, despite her washing it a couple of times, gathered a lot of dust since they live in the desert. I cleaned out a bit from the window trim.

I can't remember for sure, but that may have been the issue the first time it happened shortly after buying the car because it was around that time when I had to replace the battery.

I love these newer cars but man, I'm not a fan of all of these interconnected electrical systems.l

Awesome sir!! Don't you just love the "simple, easy" fixes?? I keep my door and window rubber trim all clean and lubricated so it doesn't ever happen again. Been a long while now.
