Backup Camera Grid Lines gone after OnStar/XM setup
Anybody else lose the backup camera grid lines after their OnStar/XM setup? Mine was there and working until after I set those up last night. Not sure which did it, or if it was even related. Otherwise, all I did was go through the settings and set both doors to unlock with the remote key. That's all I've done.
I've searched camaro5.com and Google in general and the answers are pretty general with no real solution. I can tell you for a fact that the grid lines were there prior to settings up those two services last night. I've gone in and tried to turn the 'Symbols', and whatever else I can find in Display and Backup Camera options off, go Home, and then back in and turn on with no change. *confused* |

I never had the grid lines when I got my '13 1LE in January, I thought it was unusual. I checked my brother-in-law's '13 ZL1 and he doesn't have them, so I thought it was a feature not included with the Camaro.
I'd like to be wrong, though, and get them re-enabled! |

My guess is that your dealer had already pre-configured/connected XM or OnStar on the car in order to test or demo it. My car was delivered untouched. My guess is that connecting with OnStar somehow turns/disables this feature just based on my limited exposure. Lots of people were saying it was 'removed' on models after 2013 or 2012 because of a lawsuit, but I GUARANTEE that the grid lines were there prior to doing one of those two things. And that would explain why some people have it and some don't. I'm just curious how many that have grid lines (if any) ever setup XM or OnStar.
There has to be an answer to this somewhere. Either a setting I'm missing or an update that's pushed down through one of the services that inadvertently disables or removes that feature. |

I've read older threads and I don't think gm put the grid on their camera system.

Has anyone contacted gm about this for a solid answer? Its odd that they wouldn't be there, my dads '14 Silverado has them, but my 1LE doesn't...why?

I don't think it has anything to do with "didn't come on/with my car". I think we have to be careful with the wording. I'm PROOF that it IS/WAS there, but something removes or disables it. Again, my guess is OnStar, but if so, I want to know why. Is it an error in how OnStar syncs/configures with the onboard system, or is something else at play here? |

According to several posts I have read on here, the MyLink system is made by Panasonic and either GM or Panasonic did not want to pay the patent fees associated with using the grid lines on their system so they are not there on the systems. The alerts for the backup sensors still show up so that is what you might have seen.
