Anyone done a oil cooler delete on L99?
Hi, just wondered if anyone done a oil cooler delete on the L99? I understand you use 12577903 oil cooler block off plate & 12553210 gasket then block off water pipes to cooler. Only reason why I'm asking is that mine is leaking & I live in New Zealand so have no warranty on vehicle & these things cost roun $750 to replace & looks like replacing o'rings & gaskets doesn't work all the time. What Ive read these coolers don't do a lot anyway. Any thoughts appreciated.

you could buy an adapter, and run a standard aftermarket oil cooler. 750 sounds awfully steep for a factory intercooler. sounds like price gouging from your dealer / importer.

Sounds like an idea, I'll have a look around for an adapter to suit L99/LS3 block to aftermarket cooler. cheers

I wouldn't delete it either but maybe a "better" more "efficient" cooler?

Mine's blocked off. Tens of thousands of LS engines dont have them, and the factory one sucks. Unless your road racing, I wouldn't bother with one at all.

You will still need to modify a couple things.
1. You cap off the coolant fitting to the block (Blue Circle) and replace the factory t (Red Circle) in the upper rad hose with a straight connector. or 2. You add a 90* hose fitting @ Blue Circle and adapt it to factory coolant hose @ Yellow Circle I would probably recommend option 1 as it seems to be a little more simple and I don't know if you would have any clearance issues with option 2. Hope this helps and I didn't make it more confusing.

Hey thanks guy's for the info, think I may go with MaxKamai's & ipouncer72's idea & block plug block & put straight connector in, I have blank plate & gasket coming, just have to find out what size bung (15) for the block I am going to need & dia of connector pipe I will need. The less clutter the better for me.

I deleted mine on my LS3. I do have to thank pouncer72 as the inspiration for it. So far, no problems in the 90+ degree heat but I haven't been running the car hard either.

I just came from my dealer doing an oil change and I talked to one of the techs and I ordered the three parts and they will do the delete next week for me once the parts arrive. I believe around 25 dollars for the parts.
