Gas Tank Question - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

My 2ss was in between 1/4 and E and I filled it up ... it took 14 gallons ... I pushing it in until it topped out a little...

I thought it was a 19 gallon tank...at least that's what it says... anyone else notice this?

maybe operator error?

Tank is 18.8 gallons. At "Low Fuel Range" which is typically around 40-44 miles fuel range remaining before it goes to that message is right next to "E" on my gauge (V6).

I went 407 miles on 18.150 gallons once, cutting it close.

So between 1/4 and E there should be ~2-3 gallons, and at "Low Fuel Range" another ~2-3 gallons.

Track your experience over the next few tanks to better gauge your range, don't try to push it though...

MY 2SS got 27.5mpg, no A/C 55mph and cruise set. Drove 55 miles just to see, very boring though, just wanted to see the best it would get.

that's pretty good mpg...

I am getting 15.4 mpg right now ... but it sure is fun !!!

Hey guys...just wondering if anyone else had had this problem or has heard of it...I think the baffle in the gas tank is broken?? I can hear the gas sloshing around in the tank. I just started to notice it the other day...and I have only had the car since Dec.12 2010. Why would this be broken already, even though the car is brand new???

I don't think there is a baffle in the fuel tank. The tank is on both sides of the tunnel, no need for a baffle.
