He's welcome to join us here. I'll probably try to convince him to do an engine swap using an LS-series engine.

I considered doing it myself when I have the resources. I've always loved the small Jeep platform, and GM has never built a serious competitor for it. Imagine a Wrangler with a full aftermarket suspension and a new GM small block. Paint it matte black, get some well-placed chrome, slap on some black rims, and get some off-road tires with white lettering.

I wish I had some money. I couldn't even afford to fix the damned Impreza today. They made me sign a waiver before I helped it limp home for another extended park.

You can do a hemi swap and make it emissions legal on a newer jeep (has to be same manufacturer and same year or newer engine- or so I was told). But yes I've always wanted to do something like this as well. I don't know about any good jeep specific forums though, sorry.

Brakes indeed—in my case, that means calipers, rotors, pads, and labor. The labor alone is out of my budget. :( I'll probably have to have more work than that done to get rid of the Subaru, including the windshield, a thorough interior cleaning, and removing some surface dents. There's no permanent body damage to the car, but it isn't exactly a beauty. For now, it'll be parked until I get the surgeon to take off an arm and a leg to pay for the work.

Make sure he puts a Chevy badge or some sort of an indicator that he's running a GM engine on the car.

If I weren't working overtime, I could find the time to do it with a friend of mine. I have no tools and limited experience being that I'm only 23 and haven't worked in any auto industry jobs.

It's the time that hinders me from the 'Do it yourself' stuff.
