Roof Molding Replacement Question or Two

Hello again, gang.

I'm about to replace my windshield, and since the original roof molding ends have rubber bits that tuck under both the front and rear winshields, I thought it would be a great time to install the new moldings I've had sitting in their shipping tube for the last year.

My first question: Do these moldings lift straight up off of the roof or do they slide forward/backward on or off the car?

Question #2: Are these replacements supposed to come with clips that are they already embedded or attached with the new rails, or are they purchased separately?

Thank you.

Yup , they lift right up . The clips are mounted to the car. One in the front , and one in the rear. THe rest of the molding is just press fitted in. You can use a interior trim removal tool to simply lift them right out . A small flathead screwdriver works too , but I didn't want to chance scratching the car. I have replaced mine once , and getting ready to order and replace again. THe heat here in Florida is btutal on them lol . And the design is not the best with the tips coming off lol. All in all , it should only take you about 10mins to replace both.

1. Thank you from a fellow Synergy guy.
2. Did you have to buy the end clips to go with the rails?

Nope, it all came as one molded piece. The clips stay on the car.

The end pieces come as part of the molding as already stated.

If one has been replaced, thanks though.

I did this replacement a few years back. GM decided to replace the plastic clips that attach to the roof in the channels with metal clips. You would have to purchase those separately if they detached. Also the end plastic pieces "tips" on both front and rear are supposed to be all one piece with the strips for the later years. They still break. I'm so fed up with this BS and the fact GM still hasn't fixed this from the earlier year 2010-2015 models. It's junk. I ended up super gluing the black tips in the front that tuck under the windshield and painted them black to blend in. POS if you ask me.
