z28 + rainy track = risk of crash
hey Folks,
just wanted to share that the ginormous amount of torque of the Ls7 can be a problem (even with all aids on and even when you are fully straight) when you are on a wet track. I've put together a semi-serious video about it:

Scarey stuff! Glad you missed that flag station. You're much more dedicated than I. A hint of rain and I'm a "no go". Heck, I occasionally spin my car like that on dry pavement. Wet track would be an expensive disaster for sure.

Dare I ask, what tires were you running?

The track was boarderline and things were going well until the rain picked up. That person on the flag station was probably cleaning out his pants. Glad you missed it.

hey folks, it’s hard to miss rain in the pacific northwest. basically you are guaranteed sun from july to september, remaining 9 months are rain with very few exceptions.
this time was especially bad. tires are continental sport contact 02 and i like them very much in the rain. i also think the flag station guy had to change his pants

You might be better off getting a newer version e. g Sport contact 7.

Id say thats too wet to be pushing on, certainly on any kind of track focused tyre. Aquaplane onto grass and as you found out youre just a passenger.
Im also doing Spa and Nordschliefe in early November this year, wish me luck ......... |

I will try newer tires but believe me, it was too wet for any tire. There were instructors spinning with racing rain tires (which are way better than the street tires you normally buy).
@docwra by Nurburgring I'd assume you refer to the Grüne Holle, the green hell, the old track. If you have not been there before, even if you have thousands of laps on the simulators, I'd strongly recommend to book a ring taxi ride to experience the track, then you can ride your car but take it easy. That track is a whole different beast compared to any other track on the planet. The two main factors are the diversity in traffic (bikes, busses, tractors, trucks, race cars, etc all together) and the sheer length of a lap which makes it VERY difficult to memorize. There's also no runway in case you make a mistake. One fantastic way would be to get in contact with Misha Charoudin and let him drive your Z28 on the track (he is FAST) in exchange for a video about the Z28. That channel would really benefit from a video on the Z28. https://www.youtube.com/@mgcharoudin

I did a track day in the rain at PIR last year with PS cup 2's. What a mess, like you mentioned even in "rain" mode I still lost the car a couple times. I was passed by a KIA suv, humbling to say the least. The next day it was dry, and I had a blast.
Thanks for the video. |
