Gustav

Here we go again, tropical storm Gustav is headed into the Gulf Of Mexico. Speculation about these storms drives me nuts. The computer models change the path and destination about every 2 hours. Every lumber supply and Walmart is crammed with people buying batteries and plywood or OSB to board up. Gas stations are increasing prices already because production platforms in the gulf are shutting down and evacuating. Looks like Labor day weekend here will be spent preparing. Hope it passes very minimal, it could screw up my going to Indy....dammit.

And I'm sure the great residents of New Orleans will blame everyone else for them not realizing yet AGAIN that they live below sea level and should LEAVE when a storm hits.

There will always be some that either refuse to prepare or to leave. The city is making a good effort to evacuate, but you can't force those that want to stay. I'm high and dry, but lots of trees around me. I'll spend monday boarding up instead of BBQing.

Faye really dumped a load of rain... I was lucky for that one. Floridia has a double concern for sure. You never know what these damn things are going to do. Hope they all steer clear of ya GTAHVIT.

That's fine, I'm originally from Florida and I've never NOT lived in an area that was affected by TS/hurricanes, so I'm not a stranger to them. As a matter of fact next month I'm moving back to Florida again and am just fine with storms.

That being said, if you're willing to ignore the professionals and want to try to ride it out and get screwed for your decision, DON'T BLAME SOCIETY. That's my only issue and I look forward to shaking my head at the failure of our country when people expect everyone to bend over backwards to help the folks who only stayed for the free support.

I understand where you're coming from. There are a lot of people that sit tight just for that reason. 3 years later and there are still people that are not trying to do better for themselves. There are still people in federally provided trailers and or cottages that I don't see any sign of them getting their act together.

I appreciate the offer. I generally board up and ride it out. If ones threatening you and you plan to go west let me know. Your welcome to ride one out here also.

At least I'm in the middle of the nation, away from all those homicidal coasts!

And right in the middle of Tornado alley. Damn.

Granted, but when you have a really bad tornado, Bill Clinton immediately rushes to the rescue!

Well I can't keep mine from growing.

My dogs get lost out there. We've had our fair share of rain.

The good news is it keeps the water bill down.... That's what I get for living in a development with an HOA... Gotta keep the grass nice.

Thanks for the offer though. I was at Fort Knox about a year ago. It was just starting to get cold. My cousin was graduating boot camp. I'd love to see it in the spring / summer.

Edit: We drove through TN to get there...
