Another newbie

Hi...just wanted to introduce myself and thank everyone for all of the helpful advice I've read on here.

Our story: My husband has long wanted a 1st generation Camaro. Me being the dutiful wife kept telling him all the practical reasons we shouldn't get a 30-year-old car and was able to "keep him in line." After he came back from a tour in Iraq, he heard about the plans for the 2010. A trip to Disney last year, where they had the 2010 on display at Test Track, sealed the deal for him (it was all I could do to pull him away from the display so we could get on some more rides). Still, I kept trying to steer him towards more "practical" cars. With our teenage daughter getting her drivers license, the plan was for her to get his Camry and he would get a new car.

Flash forward to last month, when we test drove a new Camaro. He was already sold before he even got behind the wheel; I was still stubbornly holding onto getting a Lexus or Acura or something and was giving him a hard time about this "midlife crisis car." As soon as I sat inside it, I, too, fell in love. We placed our order for a 2SS/RS RY auto (if you've ever driven in DC-area rush hour, you'll understand why we chose this option) with sunroof and polished wheels. Ordered 12/1, TPW 1/18. I can honestly say I think I'm even more excited than he is at this point....and I'm not a car fanatic by any means.

This will be our first American car in about 30 years, and I'm excited to venture away from the Toyotas and Hondas of our past. In fact, the other day he mentioned a possible tour in Afghanistan, and all I could honestly think was, "wow, I'll have the Camaro to myself for a few months!"

Anyway, just glad to be here, and look forward to taking delivery.

Welcome to the site. VERY glad to have you.

And, he is not alone. We were ALL sold before we drove it. hahaha

And ANOTHER L99er (auto) so awesome. It's better than the manuall anyway.

Ayway. We are having a C5 fest in April in GA, so you should talk him into going. See what it'll do in the 1-4 mile.

What a great story! Welcome to the family we are excited for you. It reminds us when we got ours! There is a rule though. Newbies need to send pics when you get your baby!

That's putting it mildly PQ. We all placed preorders on our Camaros and added options that had no pricing! In fact, we didn't know what the pricing was until the last few months before production! We put the cart before all 400 horses instead of the other way around! Good luck and great choice in trim and color!

Yeah, THAT was a major leap of faith and I don't envy you, though that is all in hindsight now. I made SURE mine was refundable. Isn't the idea of a non-refundable deposit "rule" dumb on a car like this that has so much hype? My dealer laughed and said, "If I took a non-refundable deposit, I may as well triple your deposit money should you not want the car because that is the bare minimum of what I'd make on it because your car would then become a dealership car and there is no way I'd sell it for MSRP at that point. Now then, where would you like me to put this in writing and sign?" This spoken with a HUGE grin! That put things into perspective right away. No WAY was I giving up my spot on this car.
