progressive: "sorry sir you were hit with a double wammy"

I added my camaro onto my policy with my bmw. $1400/6 months for full coverage on both. Well my term runs out at the end of the month and they sent me the renewal at it went up to $1892/6 months.

So I called progressive and the supervisor looks up my account and goes "sorry sir you were hit with a double wammy". I'm like excuse me? And he goes MD rates went up and our underwrites increased the insurance cost for the new camaros now that we have a better feel of how much they are costing progressive.

Needless to say I called geico same exact coverage for $900/6 months so i switched my auto and home owners.

I asked if i could be on a commercial...

still a little worried though that geico is going to screw me in 6 months.. anyone else have issues with their rates changing after their 6 month term is up?

Watch out with Geico. They spend a lot of money on advertising.

It's gotta come from somewhere.............I'm just sayin.

Thats BS with Progressive I would never deal with them again after that I would stick with geico and if they try that in 6 months I would switch it again but I wouldnt think it would double if it goes up at all

if it makes anyone feel better, Progressive said when my son turns 16, it will cost me $1400 more every 6 months to let him drive my car.

wow. Glad he's got a 10-speed!

ive had some bad wrecks one my fault two not mine.. progressive has been able to get me a check within 2 days and then they went and fought the fight to get their money back against the other ins company. geico might not be that forgiving.. now 1800 a year is totally worth it because that is def gonna cover any deductable. i need to start searching.. 1100 /6mths for my rumble bee and camaro.. maybe geico can help a ***** out.

progressive is a bunch of stinking liars. i got dropped by my insurance when i moved from california to arizona because i had a ticket and a wreck in the previous 3 years. progressive said if i went with them after two years i would move up to a better category. two years later my insurance jumps $21 bucks a month. why? no reason they can explain. when i cancelled them they actually asked if i would recommend them to people. "no i wouldn't, you're liars."

If you want the real truth....I own a bodyshop and never even see a car from progressive. That's because I have educated all of my customers about their underhanded practices. I don't want to deal with progressive and I don't want my customers to have to get screwed by them either. A recent trade magazine polled independent and dealer bodyshops about which ins. company was WORST to deal with. Yep, progressive was #1 on the WORST list. In fact, just about all of the major car ins. companies suck. Try a smaller company. The major companies don't care if they piss you off and lose your biz, they know that someone else will be taking your place that got dropped from Allstate, American Family, Farmer's, GEICO, Liberty Mutual, Safeco, etc. They only care about their BOTTOM LINE. To hell with what they advertise, they really don't care, boys and girls. This biz has turned cut-throat...real surprise there, huh?

I'm probably way off with this comment, but it seemed as though there were folks posting on this forum who reported insurance costs for SS's that were actually less than V6 models when these cars came out in April-June 2009 (for the same person). Geico only quoted me $24 more per 6 months for a SS at the time of my purchase. Perhaps the ratings systems were askew and now they're figuring it out?

I have Costco insurance (ameriprise) almost two years ago I had a truck fire that also took out my garage. They paid out almost 300,000 dollars and my rates went up less than 50.00 every 6 months.
