Smile Thinking about a Camaro SS...

Hey everyone! Im new to the forum so excuse the newbieness. I currently drive a Lexus GS300 that I "stole" from my grandpa. Anyways Im getting tired of driving a grandpa's car and im seriously considering the camaro. I dont plan on buying for atleast another 6months +. Anyways I have a few questions in anticipation of the plunge.

1) When could I finally get one of these beasts for at or under MSRP? I honestly only want the SS motor and nothing else. The biggest problem that I have seen is that even when the dealer sells for msrp there is always an option or two tacked on that I dont really want or need.

2) What is GM's deal with mods and warantee's? I just want to do the simple things (intake / chip / exhaust / body work), but if im paying 30+ for a car I need the warantee to still be in effect.

3) Whats the deal with onstar tracking you? Can I completely remove that BS?

Thank for any and all help regarding this.

1) Right now.

2) Warranty is the big question. There is a thread going on right now which will shed some light on a few things. But that aside, we aren't getting any reports of warranty being voided for headers, cai, etc. Tune seems to be the contesting point.

3) ummm that's kind of tin-foil-hat stuff. They don't really 'track' you per say...

"per say" ... love it

rip the onstar out if you don't want these twisted inbreeding elite familes tracking you. Me, I just left it in. Get the Camaro you'll love it, I just picked up a black 2ss friday night, 110 miles on her ... I'm in heaven! Don't let those jerkoffs scare you ... buy it!

Go to the Chevrolet website and build you a 1SS Camaro. There aren't many options on the 1SS if you are trying to get the cheapest V8 possible. Of course, in six months you'll be ordering a 2011 model but there should only be a few? minor changes? Research these forums for six months and we guarantee you'll know more about the Camaro than 99% of the sales people at the dealerships.
Good luck and welcome!

Thanks guys. The camaro definitely looks like it. I agree, the whole onstar thing is kind of "tin foil" but I just cant stand the thought of someone being able to track me, or that new thing where they could shut your car down in a high speed pursuit. Not that I would ever cause a high speed pursuit, but it is nice to know.

I look at the benefits of onstar, the theft deterrent and the accident help sound nice.

Besides, think of it this way, they've got LOTS of cars with onstar that they could theoretically track every step of the way. If someone decided to break their company policy and risk their job, what are the chances they'll be picking your car at random and hoping to catch some dirt on you?

They can "track" you by your cell phone if they want to....

I have a 1SS because I wanted the power and didn't need all the extras that came with a 2SS. With the money you save, you can put the mods YOU want into it.

In 6+ months most of the 2010's that are still on dealers' lots should be under MSRP because the 2011's should be in.

I wouldn't say instant collectable-

Well I take that back everything is a collectable to somebody.

I have to admit that as I am starting to see more camaros around I really want the HID / halo lights. I will probably want up going for the 1ss but with the rs package.
