Anyone know what time this is supposed to be going on? Imma get a big bag of popcorn and just laugh like hell during the whole thing lol.

Apparently it's already started.

In addition, Toyoda said the company is making changes so brake pedals can override a sudden acceleration and bring a runaway vehicle to a safe stop.
So they're not fixing the gas pedal, but they're changing the brake pedal? Another thing that possibly could go wrong since they can't make correct pedal assemblies anymore...

I listened to a little of it today and it is a joke, you have congressmen who don't know anything about cars asking questions. One congress lady said she has a Hybird Camry and she wanted Mr. Toyoda to guarentee her car was safe and would NEVER be recalled.

I just hope this finally shows everyone that Toyota is not the greatest thing since sliced bread. They have known about this problem for years and just want to keep blaming it on the floor mat and gas pedal. Looks like it is finally coming out that it is the ECM causing the problem.

I've been listening for a few hours. They are getting admitions and details out of them. Apperently they've been adressing this overseas for a while now and Toyota US didn't know of it. Kind of surprising. The panel member that got it out of them had to clarify it because it was kind of hard to believe.

They've made too much money in the last few years for that to happen, unfortunately.

I'm getting tired of toyota dealers getting on tv and talking about Big 3 recalls. Last i heard nobody was dying in a Chevy. Not to mention the media bashing American cars for 30 years and playing up everyone of their recalls.

I can't quite remember her name, but the older congresswoman in the blue jacket really got to them with the questions about basically a level playing field, being that Japan only had 3% of foreign competition in their country, compared to our being above 50%. That was an interesting stat.

To be fair, I'm sure that is a response to the incentives that have been offered for anyone turning in a Toyota.

Anybody notice the similarity between Toyota's situation and the beginning of "Debt of Honour"?

Honestly I was a little disappointed in LaHood. He seemed to be avoiding the serious questions that needed to be answered. He kept his cool and always said "I'll get back with you on that." You'd think he'd come a little more prepared...

one thought.
this could raise the bar of quality for all auto manufactures.
it could also just set up a mind set in people that will make it
impossable to please any one.
also what if some one who trades in ther toyota for a ford or gm car and there is a problem with this new car?
there gonna make a stink we will all have to smell.....
