Now i know for the hardcore drivers who are getting the LS3 dont really care about their MPG but for those buying the L99 who live in urban cities and gas is a whalloping $4.19 in Chicago for Regular..

Will you be driving the SS Camaro as an everday car??
Will you be driving the SS Camaro in the Snow???

some questions because for winter time im wondering what ill do when the ss comes with Summer tires and has lower suspension (Yikes!!)

I drive a 06' MC SS with 22" Wheels with a 235/30/22 Toyo tire and i go nowhere in the snow. Those came off late oct last year.. taking them off next week this year.

$4.19? Wow, still? It's $3.18 up the road from me.

I will be using the Camaro as an everyday car. It'll be my 4th Camaro to be used as such.

Winters aren't THAT bad here. Maybe 1 or 2 snowstorms a season. And the roads are clear enough within a day to not have to worry (I live right off a main road in the area, and that happens to be the same road I drive almost all the way to work).

I admit, to my knowledge, none of those Camaro's had Summer tires though.

I'll be driving my SS as a daily driver. I'm coming out of college and, to pay for it, I'll be waiting for the MY2011s to come out at the earliest. Also, to help me save, I'll be living on the same quality of food I eat in college even after I get my salary job.

I admire your drive to save money, but for the sake of your own health I would at least eat better once you enter the workforce. Besides, you deserve some sort of quality of life bump for your evolution from college to corporate life.

I plan to use my Camaro as a daily driver and I'll use premium fuel as recommended by the factory. If the factory decides to recommend a lower octane, then I will gladly save some $ on fuel.

Blur-I can relate to a diet of the Mcdonalds dollar menu and eating peanut butter straight from the jar in college, but I'm gonna make sure when i graduate next year that I'll be eating better..and of course try and budget in a Camaro.

Even though gas is about 3.40 here in Colorado, ironically I'd like to move back to Chicago or LA. High gas prices here I come.

L.A. gas roughly $3.65/gallon
I will be a daily driver, taking on a SECOND job to pay this puppy off asap. and also to cope w gas

im going to find that website quite useful if in fact this is true.. Gas this morning is $4.19 at ALL my locla gas stations.. and on the other side of the city at its lowest at $3.69?? i find that hard to believe but tommorow ill be out that way anyway and well see. So chicago aint that bad..

according to that site the average is $3.91

I will drive mine as a DD as well and I agree with the poster from southern NJ above, in recent winters it really hasn't been too bad here and I am only 2.7 miles from my corporation anyway. Worst case scenario I will simply log on and work from home if it is that bad.

Super (93 octane) here is only $3.49 a gallon right now (even cheaper if I travel down the road a few miles)

I am not too worried about MPG since I am so close to work as it is and my turbo subaru right now requires super and I get about 11-14 days on one tank of gas averaging about 23 mpg per tank full combined.

I don't necessarily think you have to be "hardcore" to get the stick. The auto will have the fuel saving features, yes, but manual transmissions are known for getting better fuel economy than autos. The GTO was rated 17/25 in manual form. The auto was rated something closer to 15/21. The Camaro will have more gears, but this shows that manual transmissions are more fuel efficient.

The manual in the Camaro has good gearing for acceleration, but it's such a strong motor that where most transmissions wouldn't have a 1:1 gear til 5th, it does it in 4th. Combine that with the skip-shift feature (the first to fourth shift that tremec has used in cars since the Camaro and GTO) and you can get probably 16 or 17mpg in the city and probably around 25 or 26mpg on the highway. That's from experience with my GTO which has a manual and 400hp LS2. I have no doubts that the L99/A6 combo will be a good one for fuel efficiency, but I'd be willing to bet the epa estimates are about the same. Even with all the tech in the L99.

The EPA estimates went from a tad too lenient to a tad too harsh.

Most of this will go out the window when it comes to real world driving styles. Some people claim they get 19 mpg in the city on the gto board. Some people say (and I believe them more than the people claiming high numbers) that they get around 10mpg. That's driving it like you stole it all the time for you though.

My going out diet consists almost entirely of Chipotle. That place makes legendary burritos from some of the highest quality ingredients available.

Otherwise, I eat a lot of Rice-A-Roni, Pizza Rolls, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese, and candy. I have a sweet tooth.

Actually that'd be here in OK, though Kansas City is pretty good! It's nice to be able to find gas below $3/gallon though.
