Could bolt-ons void my PT warranty with no tune?

I spoke with a local performance shop the other day about the installation of some CARB legal short tube headers and was wondering if they would void my powertrain warranty even if I don't have a tune. They said it could.
I have high flows, CAI, scoop and Vmax tb. These would be relatively quick to r&r for warranty or emission purposes (CAI and high flows are not CARB legal). The headers would be a pain or cost me a lot though. Have any of you who have added ST's or LT's without a tune ever have or heard of the pt warranty being voided for this?

I didn't know GM made shorties. I wonder if they are CARB legal.

Technically no they cant void your PT warranty, unless say you didn't get a good seal on the manifold and causing oxygen sensor/cat codes but that's a rarity. Only thing they wouldnt warranty at that point is the headers. Now for CARB purposes say if you get JBA which doesn't have approval for 2014 you really don't have to worry cause first smog isn't due until 5 years from sale date of the car so by then they will be CARB approved.

I went from SLP Lt's to JBA shorties on my 05 GTO and was very happy, sure a bit less power but it sounded way better in my opinion. JBA shorties will be the route I choose.

I have a 2013 and I purchased a used set of ARH 50 state CARB legal shorties. I understand if you change your mufflers your exhaust warranty for the mufflers will not be covered. But mufflers are not power adders like a CAI, high flow cats, headers, etc. If there was a diff, trans or engine problem that they felt resulted due to additional power, and you did not redo the car to stock, could they void your pt warranty. My feeling is that depending on the dealer they could.

Changed the title from short tube to just headers. Anyone had their pt warranty voided just for bolt-on's, no tune?

Has anybody been denied work or had their pt warranty voided because of an aftermarket engine performance bolt on without a tune? CAI, headers, high flow cats, etc.

Technically they have to prove that your modification was the direct cause of the failure to not fix/replace the item under warranty. Being that you are bolting up some high quality headers that will not effect anything other than allow the engine to run more efficiently, you should have no problems.

Best regards,

I would think the only way the dealer could void the PT warranty would be to dyno the car to show that the bolt-ons caused the car to excede its rated HP & torque.
