Angry very bad morning

Got a call early this morning to show up at work. Yes, Easter Sunday.
Here's the bad part:

Theese guys were pro's, hit 3 toolboxes like this. Got laptops, scan tools & anything of value. Used our torch set-up, even knew enough to change the cutting tip. they left a brand new set of 22" wheels & tires sitting on the floor 15 ft. from my box. They knew exactly what they wanted.
Can't get ahold of the owner yet to find out about insurance.

I'm sick...

Taking a mans tools is a real blow to the gut. They are taking your ability to make a living. That sucks.

Hope they catch those scumbags. Did the policy actually investigate, take fingerprints and everything? Years back I worked at a dealer that got broken into. The police wouldn't even take a single fingerprint, and did next to no detective work. They took a report and said goodbye.

The techs and the owner pooled together and hired a private investigator. Prints have to be taken very quickly, so today is the day to do that. There were a few finger prints in our case on tool boxes and door handles. They were key later in case after a few people starting getting caught. The big break was the private investigator using informants and leads that found some items at a pawn shop about 100 miles away. He knew to branch out to the pawn shops in major cities within driving distance. The police checked the local pawn shops once, which of course they weren't there. The crooks waited a couple weeks and then started dumping the stuff at pawn shops in surrounding major cities. The pawn shops had video of the people selling the items.

Good luck. Put the word out on sites like Craigs List and the local paper for a reward for info. There is no honor among thieves. A little reward money and one sumbag may turn in the others. Also make up some fliers of the items stolen and circulate to every pawn shop within driving distance. Local TV can be a huge help too. Ask if a local reporter can come in and do a story on the break in. When the people see your personal loss, many will keep their eyes open.

Thanks, all good tips. The police & detectives did investigate, to what extent I'm not sure. They were there before me and are supposed to return.
