Just wanted to announce myself and say hello to everyone, as well as a big THANK YOU to everyone for providing such great information on this forum.

I've been driving my Toyota Tacoma for about 8 years now, and I think it's about time to move up in the world.

I've NEVER been a "new" Chevy fan (gotta respect the 70s - my dog is named Nova), but I was given an opportunity to drive a Corvette a month or so ago, and I suppose I'm a bit of a convert.

I'd never buy the 'vette for myself, but I've already taken a test drive and rented a Camaro for a day... and I'm in love.

The plan is to purchase one 2-3 months, once I get a few home expenses taken care of.

Black 2SS/RS - manual (of course)

If anyone has any advice on the purchase of a new car, I'm all ears.

As most family members here know, I used to have a 2001 Tacoma...my pride and joy...unfortunately, I sold it in order to get the money for the down payment. I miss it so much

Advice? Yes. Get one as fast as you possibly can! You'll wonder why you waited the first time you open her up and you understand what "permagrin" is!

Yea, unfortunately I'll have to sell my Tacoma for the down payment of the Camaro. It's been a great truck, and I'm sure I'll miss it at times... so I'll just have to console myself with 426HP. =)

The sad part is that I'm considering selling my motorcycle too, which I would miss way more than my truck. I don't need to, but it would help... so that decision isn't set in stone yet.

Boy is that right!! I worked at dealerships so I have a good idea of how they operate. Apply for a loan on line or at your local bank and go in with your own money and rates. They'll have no choice but to beat or match it. The warranties are up to you, but I personally feel they are BS. I can almost guarantee that if something happens to your paint or interior, it will not be replaced so consider how much the warranties cost and make sure you know exactly what they cover before you buy. I didn't buy any, got a screamin' low APR on my loan, and the finance guy was so pissed at signing (that I didn't buy any warranties) - to the point where I was about to grab the door and run out of his office, he was a bit aggressive for my taste.

Yea, I've already verified that I can get financing through my bank... and I actually get an extra .25% off if I set up automatic payments from my acct.

If Chevy wants to beat it, I'll entertain the though... but I'm ready to go in there and control the situation, not the other way around.

So that's pretty much the only free weekend I have for the next 2 months. I'd LOVE to go.

However, trying to convince my wife that I'm going to look at cars all day long probably won't sit well with her. Especially considering the fact that she's against me purchasing one at all. She has a problem with the whole "Camaro" name... mostly because of the 80's and mullets.

I doubt you'll find a bunch of mullets, specially in SoCal. You'll become part of the family and see every type of camaro from bone stock to highly modified. There will be cars, crowds and good times to be had by all. It's about cars for sure, but the other half is meeting the people behind the cars/forums. If you plan on spending any time here on camaro5, I would highly suggest meeting the family. =)

Oh no... I wasn't insinuating that anyone with a current Camaro would be sporting a mullet...

However, I'm from east county San Diego... and yes, there are still people driving 80's Camaros, sporting mullets, blasting Freebird. Stereotypes are there for a reason.

My wife has trouble getting past that image from the 80s.

I'll see what I can do... maybe I'll get lucky and she'll want to go too. haha
