upper strut retainer

Since i lowered my camaro i cant seem to figure out if my strut retainer is sitting right. Is it suppose to rest on the wheel well? because mine is bottoming out on the nut underneith it and its leaving a gap between the retainer and the car on both sides. what could i have done wrong? ive been driving it for a while since with no issues.

I'll go snag a few pics and put them up.

edit.... looking over some things, it seems i may have my nuts in the wrong order. ive got the bigger one underneith and the really skinny one up top. (nope i got them in the right order)

That looks right to me. You need that space between the tower and the retainer to allow for the front wheels to articulate correctly. What you have looks exactly like my setup with my pedders coilovers

I knew how it sounded when i wrote it, i laughed myself. i guess everything is on right. Ive looked at others pics with and without lowering springs, and they have a gap also.
