OK, so my car is one day old. I bought it about 400 miles from my house, and drove it back last night (see my post in the general forum). Anyway, it has 440 miles on it. While I was driving, I noticed a couple times that it sounded like there was a rattling/grinding noise right before it switched gears. I didn't think much of it, as I figured it was still warming up and breaking in. Well, today, I took it out for about 5 minutes to run to the auto parts store to pick up some good soap and wax. About 3 minutes into the drive, there was the weirdest sound ever. I am stopped - completely. And there was a loud knocking. Almost like someone was banging on my trunk (nobody was there). Then, there was a loud pop. I started driving very slowly, and the loudly banged into gear from 1 to 2 (or 4, not sure if skipshift activated). I parked, went inside, got my stuff, and headed home. Every now and then, I could still hear the rattling/grinding. What the heck is going on? It's an Auto, 2SS/RS. 406 miles.

i hate to hear you are having a problem.i read your thread about you being so excided about getting your car.hang in there,it is a great car.i'm sure everything will turn out ok.

Yeah... I'm sure it will work out. It's under warranty either way. Now I am afraid to drive it. Which sucks. Took my wife's car to work today while my beast sat in the garage...

it should be quiet.. sounds like something for the dealer to figure out.

Hang in there... The Car is awesome.. once that noise gets identified and repaired, you will love your car again.

Indeed. I have an appt on 22 March (they were booked all week, and I am out of town next week). What makes this more of a pain in the ass, is I am not taking it to the same place I bought it...

My camaro also has the same knocking sound coming from the trunk. Went to the dealer and they showed me 5 others that did the same thing. Most of the people don't hear it because of the radio. The other stuff...take it to the dealer...it doesn't sound normal.
