Speaker/Sub install
So I need to decide how to wire my new sound system...
I have 6.5in RE Audio component speakers for the front and RE Audio 6x9s for the rear. Also going in will be either an RE Audio 12" or (2) 10" subs in sealed enclosures. Now, I'll be using a line out converter to connect the amp(s). But how should I wire it all up? Should I wire my speakers into the stock head unit, i.e. not amplified? Or should I leave all the stock stuff unplugged and run from line out to amp and then to speakers, i.e. amplified? I have a 2 channel and a 4 channel amp so I've got lots of configurations available. Give me your inputs please. |

I would personally run the amps...A lot more power than stock

But would wiring be an issue? I mean running all those wires from amp to speakers... I want it to look nice, not cybernetic.
Also, tips on wiring my Subs. They are 4 ohm dual voice coil which can be wired to 2 ohm or 8 ohm. Amp is stable at 4 though. should I just wire one voice coil? |

You can run the sub at 8 ohms but the amp will only run at 1/2 the rated power. Try hooking it up in 2 ohm to see if the amp will power it. My amp was stable at 4 ohms but I wired my JL w6 for 2 ohms and my amp is handling it.

Would there be any negative impacts doing it this way? What is the concern with "stability" as it applies to the amp?

Ok, well I believe I have solved the problem by getting a different speaker. The new one is 2 ohm per coil so I can wire it to 4 ohm total and it'll work perfect, yes?
