So....someone make a suggestion
I'm seeing a lot of talk about east coast/west coast/central location, but no one is making an actual suggestion for a better venue (I'm not sure there's one out there, but lord knows, I've haven't been everywhere, so....)
Is there a "better" location with a 1/4 mile dragstrip, road course, etc. all at one facility that will be as accomodating and gracious as SGMP?? If so...please tell us about it!!!! And while I'm asking...how many of this year's attendees would not have made the trip had it been out west? I know I couldn't have made it. I might have gone central country, but definitely not to Vegas or Cali. And I have to stress one more time to the staff...THIS EVENT WAS AWESOME!!!! and the only complaint I have is with myself for not taking advantage of absolutely every opportunity at this event

Mid America, Heartland, Texas Motorplex and Firebird are all pretty good options.

Indianapolis Raceway Park(Oreilly raceway park) home of the NHRA Nationals.
Could probably get a lap around the legendary Indianapolis 500 track if we were lucky. |

I actually feel compelled to add...
Let's keep in mind that these organizers and participants have already established some GREAT rapport and relationships with SGMP, and there is something to be said for building on what has already been started. Also, if you feel so strongly that it should be moved, please be willing to step up and work your butt off, because that's what these guys did, and I think it's unfair for us to ask them to organize something from scratch every year at a new venue. Sorry to go on and on, but I think that the guys that did all this work are getting over criticized for the choice of venue, when "ya gotta go with what ya know" so to speak. And those of us that were there can attest to the fantastic weekend that was the 1st Annual Camaro5 Fest!!!

Hey no criticizing, but there are a lot of people that won't ever be able to go if you don't move it around sometimes.

I definitely couldn't have made it if it was out west. Another thing to keep in mind is that Valdosta seemed to welcome us as well. A lot of other cities would not have put up and been as accomodating to 500+ camaros "tearing up" their town. I know that we hit some pretty high speeds (police escorted) while running our parade lap. I got up to 90 for over a mile in the group of cars I was in. The towns people lined the roads cheering us on. It was an awesome experience and that was before we even saw SGMP!

![]() Indy sounds good too...Denver(centrally located) would be fantastic!(Bandamier Speedway, Elich(formerly Busch) Gardens), mile high handicap, etc... ..or Vegas, baby! ..common all, throw out your ideas/suggestions! ..or how about holding 3 events each year in 3 different locations(E, C, & W)during summer...@ least owners should get a chance to meet up w/ the vendors and such... Being from the south, I'm kinda bias of a southern venue. But how great would it be to be at the place where the U.S. Nationals are held. I think that would be the Holy Grail for drag racing! Oh and lets not forget the Brickyard, LOL.

Had a GM event in Indy a few years back and yes we were able to take a lap around the Brickyard. It was great but they do keep you very limited on the speed and let me tell you they play no games in what they tell you. I think I might have got the car up to around 40mph once but it didnt matter to me because I was cruising around on a famous race track
I am partial to where it was this year as well because I have a feeling some other places will not be so receptive to what went on in Valdosta. As said above they welcomed us all and went above and beyond to make sure everything they could do to make the event better was done. Once again I want to thank everyone that had a hand in the first Fest because it was a blast!!! If its out west Im not going to say I wouldnt make it but I def will not have my car with me.

Club which I was a part of at that time. When I sold my Camaro and Camaro production stopped in 02 I lost touch with the club. It was a very good event. |

No way can we do it at SGMP next year. Year after? Sure. But our west coast bros. and sisters want to attend and we all want to meet them and allow them the equal opp. to participate. There are many of them who would have made it had it been closer to them. Me personally, I will be there no matter where it is, but keep it here would create animosity and just be unfair. The organizers next year can learn from the ones this year and it will be fine. Much of what was learned is not venue specific but just event specific.
I can only make one event per year and if there were to end up being two, I'd alternate anyway so I could meet some of the west coast guys. Even if I had to fly. Like Tribone did. Won't have my car, but it was awesome to have Tribone at the show anyway without his car. |

Yup... West coast get's a turn, or at least a better opportunity to attend, anything less is just selfish. (No I don't live in the west)
