Can the trunk release be programmed for a delay?
OK, I love my Camaro and all but something has to be done about the trunk release button on the remote. Most all of the cars that I have rented or been in, you have to hold the trunk button on the remote for a few seconds before the trunk pops open. On the Camaro (or at least mine) it pops open in right when the button is pressed. Is there an update to change this behavior?
I seem to open my trunk when key fob is in my pocket or something all the time

Ummm, why would you want a delay and I cant recall any of my cars ever having to hold the button...
Are you hitting it by mistake? |

Mine does not open if I just tap the button on the key FOB. I have to hold it for about 2 seconds. I do hear people are having issues with it opening on them though, but given the relatively short range of the signal it would likely be when you get in/out of the car that you are mashing the button.

Yes, I do hit it by mistake sometimes. Not often but I think there should be where you hold it at least a couple seconds to pop it. I wonder if there is a computer update. Mine does not have a short range! The car can be far away and I can start it up. Sometimes I can leave my office or my car can be in the garage and I go out and its open. It's not a random signal that pops it open, it my key fob. There have been several times I have been close to my car workin in the garage with the fob in my pocket and...pop...crap in my pocket pushed the button. Why do some have a couple seconds to hold the button and some, like mine, as soon as you press it, it opens? |

I have to hold it for about 1.5-2 seconds. Its not instantaneous the moment I touch the button.

The factory delay is about half a second. NO ONE has more than that timeout, it's not adjustable.
I agree, it should have a delay of at least 1.5 seconds to prevent the unauthorized open trunk scenario. I have found my trunk open several times...you find out once you start to drive and see the "trunk open" in the DIC while driving the car. I will come up with a solution, maybe an in-line delay circuit that attaches to the connection. It is very frustrating to find the trunk open because you accidentally bumped the button in your pocket. A delay would solve that issue. I'd hate to see what would happen if you left the car in a parking lot unattended to find the trunk ajar and anything that was in it stolen.
