If you just drive it on stock tires, i hope you have the worlds best ice racing skills, and great insurance!
If you put on snow tires all the way around, It'll do just fine. Like any car really, but with more power.

I have been driven my 1999 Firebird all year round here in much worse condition than in Minnesota . You just need to get good winter tires and be careful

That article just says they tested the abs and stability controls in that area. It's common practice for car makers these days.
He wants to know how it'll handle the snow in real world conditions. First, since this is presumably your first car, whether you get the V6 or V8, you'll need to be very very careful. My GTO was my first RWD V8 car. Without the right tires, it can get very hairy. While going about 30 mph on the highway one day in thick snow, I was going around a slightly banked curve. I let off the throttle to slow down for it, but it induced what I can only assume was lift-throttle oversteer. At 30mph.. Heh. It was pretty scary. The car whipped about 75 degrees left, then I corrected the steering and it whipped about 75 degrees to the right. Thankfully I knew not to hit the brakes and I just gave it light and steady throttle and got it back under control. That was with stock tires. The next day I bought snow tires. It was a lot better. But still nervous considering the GTOs tendency for over steer. Again. Be very very careful. The Camaro has a slightly front biased weight distribution which could mean bad traction and a possibly tail happy nature. Possibly. You might find yourself staying home from school or something so you don't wreck your grandpas car. |

Get something with front wheel drive for winter, or, well, I'm not gonna say.

Just get a cheap, winter beater and use that to hone you snow driving skills.

![]() You don't want to learn how to drive in the snow in something as powerful as a Camaro. Seriously 100hp in the snow can be too much if you aren't careful. Just had too add you could probably get an old crown vic or some other large rear drive car for a few hundred bucks, once you can drive that in the snow the camaro should be a dream. |
